    1. Re: [TNRUTHER] Landers
    2. That's my guy, Elisha Landers in Wayne County, Missouri and yes, the 1840 census is recorded as Sanders. Would love to connect him to Rutherford County, Tennessee as he was born someplace in Tennessee but was in southeastern Missouri fairly early, 1811 when he was only about 4 years of age. 3. A few ideas came to mind; 1-the LanderSON name, could that be Irish or dutch, didn't they add "son" onto the end of their childs names or something. Maybe he dropped the "Son" part of the name for no other reason than to make it shorter and easier to say. 1-also check under the "S" because many times a cursive "L" and an "S" are mistaken one for the other. Just some ideas. Someone correct me on the number 1 above if incorrect. ----- Original Message ----- From: <MWalker724@aol.com> To: <TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 16, 2001 2:22 AM Subject: [TNRUTHER] A.S. 2. Can anyone tell me about a mysterious person named Anderson "Simmie" LANDERS b. 1832, who lived in Rutherford County? He may have left there for greener pastures in Greene County, Missouri, in the early 1850s. So far, nobody has been of any help. I am hoping that there may now be someone out there who knows about him. He did exist as I apparently carry his DNA. His father was Thomas LANDERS b. 1801 in NC. A.S. also used the last name of LANDERSON in both 1856 and in 1870. Can anyone help me understand why he would have used two last names other than dishonest reasons? Believe me, I want to know the truth, and nothing would hurt my feelings. Michael N. Walker

    3. I saw a reference to a book entitled "A Genealogy of the Family of William S. Marshall of Eagleville TN compiled by Christine Cole Marshall, published 1990 (I think). She mentions my ancestor, Sarah Jerusia MARSHALL, daughter of William Marshall and Mary Byson MITCHELL. Evidently, the Eagleville district was in Williamson Co. but became part of Rutherford about 1871. Does anyone on the list have a copy of this book or know how to get a copy? Does the library in Williamson County own the book? Is anyone researching this family? Thanks, Helen helen.seaton@asu.edu

    2. Gerald - The Traylor and Edwards intermarried when the families were in Fannin Co., Texas after 1910. These Edwards (William Houston Edwards, father William Edwards) were from Rutherford Co. although I am having trouble locating them! I was wondering if they were colocated with the Traylor family in Rutherford Co. Can you tell me what part of the county Traylor was in of if you remember any Edwards? Thanks, Phyllis Frank Surnames: Edwards and Sadler

    1. [TNRUTHER] Bedford County Family History Book
    2. Thanks to Lila Coley, the list of churches which will be in the book has also been posted. The story list (692 stories) has been up-dated to June 7th. Check it out at http://www.geocities.com/bedfordcounty/book.html Having trouble choosing a Father's Day gift? Perhaps you would like to place a tribute page in the book for your father, or if he is no longer with you, perhaps a memorial page. Many of us have parents or spouses whose lives deserve to be recognized. Please drop me a note if you are interested in this. Turner Publishing Company has asked us to turn in the family histories by June 29. We will continue to accept material until they come to pick up our manuscript. If your family name is not on the list, please don't let this book go to press without you. We need business histories. These sponsor pages will increase the number of pages in the book. If you have a business, please send your history and please consider becoming a sponsor. These books will be in the public eye for years to come. Thanks to everyone who has helped us.
