    1. [TNRUTHER] REED, LANIER, & FAGON families early 1800s
    2. Terry Ceballos
    3. Several months ago I was in contact with Judy Richie concerning the REED LANIER FAGON families in Rutherford Co. TN. Since then I have misplaced her address, but I have some new information for my line of REEDs. As a review, according to information I have Jesse REED, my ggggrandfather was born in around 1788 in VA. He married Mary Fagon and I know that they had 2 sons-Burton L. (b. abt.1824, TN) and Jessee L. (born about 1833, TN). In 1850, Jesse and Burton show up in the Marshall Co. KY census. Burton REED, my gggrandfather, married a Sarah C. JOURDAN/JORDAN in the early 1840s. I don't know where though. Then by the very early 1850s Burton and Jesse moved to Johnson Co. Illinois. Judy was interested in the middle initial of Burton L. I went to the Johnson Co. IL courthouse last month and found out that Burton L. Jr. son of the Burton born in about 1824, was also named Burton L. Reed. On the death certificate of one of Burton's sons, Burton, Jr. is listed as Lenier Reed. Also, it looks like from death records, that Jesse REED, born in abt 1833, died on February 17 of 1879 in Johnson Co. According to records, he had been there for 5 years. I know that he moved with his family to Johnson Co, IL by 1853 because he married there. After 1853, I couldn't find any info on him until now. According to the records he was sick for three days. COD is listed as total insanity. Terry Ceballos "Oh, what a tangled mess you see, If you take a peek at my family tree!" http://ceballos.freeyellow.com/ http://hairball.fws1.com/

    2. I've hit a brick wall-ANY ideas or suggestions? The family oral history states that the following family landed at Wilmington, NC from Londonderry ca. 1755/65. I haven't had any luck trying to find a record of them in either place/time: The family I'm searching for PRONOUNCED their name "McQuary" until 1910. I've found records for them listed as "McCrary" and "McCreary" in Rutherford, TN and in Texas (first names John b. 1792, Arthur b.1820 and John b.1854). They may be related to Arthur McCrery of Abbeville, SC (1790 census & Abbeville church records), but haven't found a link. Also, if their are any Gaelic students out there, I would love to hear some opinions on a possible clan origin of the name as it was pronounced by my ancestors prior to 1910. Thank you kindly for any ideas/info. Elise Hoffman

    3. Try this it is a "clan finder". It may prove troublesome finding Irish records as they are few and far between unless one is of blue blood. I believe Londonderry was in Ireland not Scotland. But for a long while the Anglo-Irish and the Gallowglasses as the Hebridian Scots were called were mercenaries in the Elizabethan wars and there was a lot on traveling going on. Anyway, it could provide some links. Some of the Irish and Scottish clans have their own list serve for clan members. Let me know. http://www.tartans.com/cgi-bin/clans.cgi Perry Goss POB 191 Fayette, MO 65248 660.248.6335 work 660.827.0821 home tcsi@murlin.com -----Original Message----- From: EchoBabe@aol.com [mailto:EchoBabe@aol.com] Sent: Sunday, August 26, 2001 7:42 PM To: TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNRUTHER] McQuary/McCrary/McCrery I've hit a brick wall-ANY ideas or suggestions?
