Hi Mary Pat, My CARTER line married into my other lines twice: Ollie (maybe Olivia) Belle CARTER m. Claiborne WALLER 10 Sep 1907 in Jefferson, then her sister Hazel married Robert Edward GRAHAM circa 1920 probably in Nashville. Their father was James Wilson CARTER who is supposed to have run a livery stable/blacksmith shop in Smyrna area. Any links there? thanks Ed > > Subject: RE: [TNRUTHER] COLEMAN's > Date: Sat, 15 Sep 2001 22:03:16 -0500 > From: "Mary Pat" <mpsteiger@arkansasusa.com> > To: TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com > > Ed, who did your Carters marry? Looking for the cemetery that my grandfather, John Allen GARRETT was buried in. He was born June 17, 1859 and died in the early 1950's. At the time of his death he resided on the Old Nashville Hwy near Smyrna. He was buried somewhere near Smyrna, but I know not where. I was a small boy, but I seemed to remember it being a rather large cemetery, possibly the town cemetery in Smyrna. Can anyone help me locate this cemetery? Hi, Here is the address for the Bureau Land Management site: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/ResultsList.ASP?index=1&qryid=69071.3 Estelle
I am researching the family of George Usselton/Uselton, b. 10 Aug 1762 in Shrewsbury Parish, Kent, Maryland. d. 24 Apr 1839 in Winchester, Franklin, Tennessee. He lived in Rutherford County, TN between about 1810 and 1837. I am also researching the family of Ephriam Meadows, b. about 1768 probably in North Carolina, d. May 1852 in Rutherford County, TN. He had moved to Rutherford County by 1820.
Hello Everyone! I'm still looking for more information on my Rutherford Co. families: McELROY; WITHERSPOON; YOUREE; SUMMERS; and related families. LaVerne
--I am researching the family of MATTHEW WILSON BOWLING, born somewhere in Virginia in 1818 or 1819, but lived most of his life in Rutherford County. Also his son (by second wife) MARSHALL LEE BOWLING, born February 1865 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. If you have any information on these two people I would really appreciate any help. Hi, I have a Hugh Porter of North Carolina whose son James, wife Hannah Hamilton, Porter came to Williamson, Co., TN. He is believed to be the brother of Reese Porter, however, there is a chance that they are brothers; James was killed in route to Williamson Co., TN making his records a bit less complete than I would like them to be for research purposes. I can't give you an exact date but I believe he was killed in about 1789, we are in the process of a little move and all my records have not caught up with me yet, in Eaton also know as Heaton Springs, in Robertson Co., TN. If there is a chance we could help each other please let me know and I will be more than happy to share what ever information that I have with anyone. What a tragedy our nation has faced today. As we close our day and begin anew on Wednesday let us not forget to pray for our nations leaders that they will make decisions that will protect our nation, and for the families of all those hurt and killed in the terrorist actions today. Even though loosing my son was not the tragedy that has happened today it was a tragedy to me. Yet my faith in the Lord above gives me strenght to know that he is in control, and that he will take care of us. For 14 months I have each and every day endured my life without my child. Sometimes it is almost more than I can bear, but I go on. I know that the prayers of friends and family helped. So I ask each and everyone of you to take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to just ask the Lord to help all these families that will be affected. God bless our country. Claytie Reed Shipley
If you have family in DC or New York, our love and prayers go out to you today. This is an unbelievable tragedy. So if you have family or friends in these cities, or on one of those planes, please accept my condolences and know that you are in my thoughts today. I hope everyone on our mailing list is safe and sound today. Teresa Ghee Elliott TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com List Owner
