Dear Marie, Thank you for your help. When the Leathers turned up in the next county (Perry) Nancy Leathers, wife of Green, was no longer listed on the census with them so my assumption was that she had died before the move. I have joined the Bedford mailing list too. Thanks again for your kindness. Bonnie Malburg
Mari, Thank you so much. I spend last night on the Bedford county site (haven't found them so far there) BUT I never realized before that Bedford was formed from Rutherford so it is a great new place to look. Thanks again, Bonnie
Our family is interested in finding any information about the father of our ancestor: ABSOLOM STUBBLEFIELD born in 1841 in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tenn. Absolom's mother NANCY (CLORENCE) STUBBLEFIELD brought the family west in about 1849, but there has never been any mention of the name of the husband/father of this family. Do you find any Stubblefields in any of these cemeteries? ----- Original Message ----- From: <CheasaG@cs.com> To: <TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 10, 2001 2:34 PM Subject: [TNRUTHER] Cemetery Lookups > > > I'll be happy to do cemetery lookups from the three Rutherford County > Cemetery books. > Mari Byers > mbyers@tngenweb.org > > If you need this, contact Mari at the address above. > Teresa Ghee Elliott > TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com List Owner > > > ==== TNRUTHER Mailing List ==== > Welcome to TNRUTHER-L: This is the official Rootsweb mailing list for Rutherford County, TN. You know there is a fellow named Ernest King JOHNS who lives in Smyrna and is a very well respected historian on Rutherford County. HI Mari, There were Nance's in that area. I think you may find some information on them in a book at the library in Murfreesboro on the district around Versailles. Also, there is a Jackson Cemetery in the same area. It is up a rise about 30 feet off the road and on land adjacent to a one story brick house. (These are my Jacksons, but the cemetery was so unkempt, we could never get close. About 10 years ago, there were markers in that cemetery.) If this should be the correct one, I'd love to have permission to explore that cemetery with the home owners okay. I live in Manchester. Mari: Would you please look in your cemetery listings for Toombs or Tombs and Millstead/Milstead and Gire/Guire? Thank you so much. Ellen
Hi Bonnie, I found quite a few Leathers buried in the southwest part of the county. I did not find a Nancy. I'm sorry. I don't know if a search of Bedford County would help you. The Leathers family was here in the 1800's. I also know Leathers family members now from here. Please let me know if I can do anything else to help. To Hallstree - I came across a John Johns(John) who was from PA who lived in the Wilmington District of NC ca 1750. His estate was probated there although there is a reference to land he owned in Charles Town, PA. Regarding Lester...a man named Isham/Isom Lester is listed as a son in law of my James McDonald/McDonnold who lived in Alabama circa 1820. I do not have a name for James' daughter (Isham's wife) but I would like to know more about the Lesters if they are familiar to you. Thanks. Frances Trimble.

Hi Kevin and Teresa, I just talked to the Archives yesterday. They work with me on several web projects for Rutherford County and are really great guys. The do not have the circuit court records. I also talked to the Gore Center and the MTSU library's special books section yesterday. They do not have the circuit court records. What is available are the Minutes Books and indexes. They are in the County Clerk's office. They go back to 1804. I've looked through them and have gotten several different types of information..like old court records. I also know this is correct because Marty told me. I'm going Thursday and will see what I can find. I'll be looking for Kevin's 1821 curcuit court record :) Mari Byers Kevin, Have you tried TSLA?
