    1. [TNRUTHER] Wilson Line Baptist Church of Christ

    3. Isn't there a sign on Jefferson Pike for the Wilson Line Baptist Church of Christ? I'm usually driving a bit too fast through there so I may have misread it. I'll slow down next time... 2. The Antioch Church of Christ in Readyville was erected in 1854. It is the oldest church in Rutherford Co. The land was donated by Jacob Wright who also built the building. I have more if you are interested. 3. Yes would love to hear anything else you have. The person I'm looking for is my gr gr grandpa William Leon Acuff(born 1842 died 1898). He was a traveling preacher with either the Christian Church(Disciples of Christ) or the Church of Christ. The only census records i can find him in is the 1880 Census. He married Sarah McElroy in 1871. I'm told that they met when he was holding a meeting in 1869 at Antioch Church and I've been in search of where that Antioch church is. I figure it can't be far from the area where he finally settled and where his in laws were from as I can't find him with his parents in any census records. He settled in Van Buren Co. TN so I've been searching all of Middle TN area for Antioch Churches and trying to narrow them down by date of establishment and denomination. Thanks for anything you can tell me. 3. Hi, Patsy. I am researching HOPEs who were in Rutherford Co. in the 1830s. Some relatives stayed there, I think. How old is the photo? Are there any given names? --- PPater6841@aol.com wrote: > Saw a mention of the Hope family. 3. I'm researching an ancestor who was a traveling preacher. Is there anyone on the list that knows anything about the Antioch Church located in Rutherford Co? According to the GNIS site there were two: one in Readyville quadrant and one in the Walterhill quadrant. If anyone knows anything about either of these I would be interested in knowing what denomination they are/were....and some background history on them. 3. Please forward this message to the couple who are compiling Rutherford Co. Marriages on the TN Genealogy Board. (I don't have an email address for them.) In the 1832 marriage list, the name listed as "David B. Holt (Holte?)" who md. Elizabeth Puckett should be read as "David B. Hope". I'm sure a close perusal of the original record will confirm this. (He's our HOPE ancestor). TIA. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! Personals. http://personals.yahoo.com

    2. Mari, What about Coffee County? For those who don't already have this URL, it is a great way to see the county formations from 1777 to 1856 with a 4 second delay between images. I found it convenient to print about 8 of the different maps because without moving, my ancestors were in Rutherford, then Bedford/Warren County line, and finally in Coffee County! 3. WOW! That is an amazing map :) I'm going to try to find who made it and see if they would mind if I linked from the TNGenWeb Rutherford site. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention :) It certainly shows how the counties were formed and when! 3. Another thought is that Rutherford was formed from parts of Davidson, Williamson and Wilson Counties. If you had ancestors in Northern Rutherford...parts of that, including Northern LaVergne was in Davidson County prior to 1803 when Rutherford County was formed. We are surrounded by Davidson, Wilson, Williamson, Bedford and Cannon Counties. 3. We are about to have a section on our Rutherford County TNGenWeb site that will be called "Marty's Bedford Notes". She has quite a bit Bedford information and hopefully some of these questions will be answered. I'm afraid I'm just the county coordinator and web tech....meaning I can look it up in a book if I don't have to chew gum and walk while doing it :) Not sure what the ETA for the Bedford Notes is but shouldn't be long. There is a Dyer Cemetery out on Versailles Rd. that has Leathers family members buried there...I didn't see Nancy but there are some unmarked graves.
