I'm looking for a John Wilson. I found him in Fair River, Lawrence County, Mississippi for the first time in 1822 on a tax list. He married a Mary Jane Newman in 1824 in Lawrence Co. Ms. John Wilson appeared on a will of Benjamin Wilson in Lawrence co. Ms. in the 1830's I could not find him on a census in 1830, but the Pike Co. Ms. list is missing for that year and I think he and Mary Jane were living there. A son Rodolphus Wilson was born in 1838 to John and Mary Jane Wilson. In the 1840 census Mary is the head of household in Pike Co. Ms. I don't find them in the 1850 census, but in 1860 she and her son Rodolphus Wilson are living in Pike Co. Ms. Rodlphus served in the 16th Ms. Infantry during the Civil War, and by 1870 he has a wife and son, and his mother Mary Jane Wilson is living in Lincoln Co. Ms with a son of her's by her first marriage, his name is Hiram M. Norman. By 1880 she must be dead. I found no more records. I found a obituary of Hiram Norman's in 1892 which said he was buried beside his mother, in Pike Co. Ms. I went to the grave and found his marker, his wife's, but not his mother's. I found a lot of Prestridge family members living near this family in Lawrence Co. Ms. and I found where one had married a Wilson in Lawrence Co. I would love to find anyone working on this Benjamin Wilson in the County. Thanks for any help. John Wilson

I have to be honest, I just forwarded the email from our county coordinator email list. I bet there are ppl on this list who will know far more than I do. I had a four ft. rattlesnake in my yard this evening. It had six rattles. Ewwww. I'm still shaking. I guess the flooding we had yesterday brought it. It's gone now. Throwing a hammer at it didn't work. Had to resort to a gun. I'm a dead aim. Is there any relation to John Neely who lived in Carroll Co., TN during the Civil War? Teri
i just went to their web site to get my records, they say they are NOT going to destroy the original records. They are micro filming them so they can preserve the originals. Vernon Compton
Does anyone know if ALL military records will be destroyed or just those of last century? Carolyn
Yes, I would like to know if the War of 1812 records will be destroyed. Carolyn, Go to the web site Mari had in her email. There is a lot of information there. If you are not a surviving spouse one of the children or the parents of the military participant, you cannot get information on the person in question. I have an Uncle, my Mothes youngest brother that served in WWll and no where is Neice or nephew, cousin or such listed as being acceotable as family. It does say if you can get written permission from one of the acceptable family members certain types of paper work will be released for a fee. Good luck! ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 16, 2004 2:06 PM Subject: [TNRUTHER] Military records > Does anyone know if ALL military records will be destroyed or just those of > last century? > > Carolyn > > > ==== TNRUTHER Mailing List ==== > TSLA has the Rock Spring Church of Christ Records.
