Dear Colleagues- I have about exhausted all possibilities on finding info on deaths of my G.grandfather/mother, John W. and Mary Shelton Hall (1834-?, 1838-? respectively) He was noted as living alone in 1900 and a widower in 1910, still living in 4th District. He is noted in Goodspeed's Rutherford Co. publication He was a Justice of Peace. He is also noted on the 1878 Beer's map a little south of Rock Creek Church. I believe the road they lived on is now called Lee Highway. Their children were: WILLIAM A., LARRAPHINE, CHARLOTTA, SARA E., JIMMIE S., MARY L., AND JOHN Mary L. I suspect Mary L. is my grandmother, though her middle initial is actually R (Rebecca). Hoping the L is a typo. They were ardent members of the Church of Christ. I believe the Rock Springs church is such. I have no idea where, when, how, John or Mary died or where buried. No Obits have emerged. I am sure something exist somewhere. He was a fairly prominent person if Goodspeed and census data are even partially correct. Any assistance will be much appreciated. Paul --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. What's the address of the historical society so we can order the book? Thanks for letting us know!
Oh yeah...When I googled my name it came up with 12 pages of genealogy stuff...mostly TNGenWeb, USGenWeb, etc. I did find an OLD email from this same list that involved Marty, Marsha and me! It was funny :) Kinda scary though...not sure I'd want all my email on line. I'm prolly never going to find old Williams Barfield. Mari, Have you ever typed your name into Google? Or Barfield for that matter? LOL Teresa Ghee Elliott I'm getting organized this year. Join me in August. For Rutherford County TN Cemeteries www.Rutherfordcemeteries.home-page.org For TMG sentences <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rutherfordcemetery/TMG.html> (I have no idea where she got my addy.) Thanks much, Mari
Noel, ('Cuse me for using this list to ask a question...I'm in a huge hurry and can't find Noel's email. ) Do you have any info on the Carothers family from Williamson? I'm looking for the father of the Carothers who married the Barfield girl. (Stephen's daughter) This isn't my Barfield line but I was emailed today for help. (I have no idea where she got my addy.) Thanks much, Mari
The Rutherford County Historical Society is compiling a new cemetery book for all of Rutherford County. It will have an EVERYNAME index. It is mainly based on the previous books, but will include corrections and additions. They do not plan to add any graves after 1960 as most of those dates are available on SS Death Index. If you have material that should be in the book, please contact Susan Daniel [email protected] The book can be ordered from the historical society for $50 + $10 postage until March 1. After that the price will be $75 + $10 postage. Carolyn
My gg-grandfather's old home is still standing. I found it this past spring during a visit to Rutherford County. It is located at the intersection of West Trimble Road and Bowen Road on the west side of the road. Zachariah Thomas lived there until his death in 1903. He moved to Rutherford County from Cannon County shortly after 1850. I have a picture that I believed to be him and family members in front of a dog-trot log cabin . Also had a picture of his house that was taken in 1971 by a distant relative from West Texas, but it was no longer a log cabin. While I was at the house, a neighbor stopped and I showed him the picture of the log cabin. He said that the house I was observing was a log cabin with a dog-trot and at some point was covered in siding and he was pretty sure it was the same house. It was definitely the same house in the 1971 picture. Some outbuildings are still standing. The house is boarded up now and the current landowner is Foster Vaught. I also located my gg grandparent's markers in Travis Cemetery near Readyville. His name and birthdate had been incorrectly listed in the Cannon Cemetery book. Let me know if you need anymore information or pics of the home. Jim Thomas Clarksville, Texas

Thomas,I don't know how Mr. Sam fits in...just had an idea he did...What I have started with.... probably(1) Thomas around 1620 (2) We believe Robert was his child, and(3) George was Robert's. (4)Then we know Moses was George's son...Judith Eason married Moses and they had Frederick.(5) Frederick first married Abner Eason's daughter. Abner was Probably....maybe....Judith's brother ....maybe.....Anyway, Frederick then had Jethro, and his wife died. and he, Frederick, married Sarah Walton. She had brothers, William and Isaac. (6)Frederick and Sarah had Frederick.......then Frederick Sr. Died and Sarah married David Stanley. HERE IS WHERE THINGS GET MIXED UP.......Go back to Abner Eason....he had another daughter...Absillah, who married John Rhodes. and they had Rachel. Now this makes Absillah Jethro's(young Frederick's half brother) aunt and Rachel is Jethro's first cousin. John Rhodes , who had been a long hunter brought his family to Mansker's Station..Goodlettsville..probably when the Waltons brought their families here. ( In fact, Isaac Walton stayed here, but John and family went back a bit to the east with William Walton and settled with him at Carthage...Al Gore's hometown...but don't tell anybody....This took place c1802) Now here is where some have got mixed up....Young Frederick left NC and came to Manskers where he married Rachel Rhodes.(7) They raised six kids....they died and are buried probably in that cedar thicket on Williamson Road in Sumner County. But about the same time, this other Frederick shows up....he might be a couple of years younger than this one, but not much...He marries a Nancy....I believe ...Smith. They live in the Murfreesboro/ Lebanon area...for awhile, then they move on to Arkansas...where they are buried. You say this Frederick's father was Hardy? He came to Tn too, didn't he? Seems as if I remember him..Know who his Dad was? Thomas, the reason I feel so certain is the Walton and Eason connections. I have more on the Lassiters that I'd love to share....and a friend in Texas who might know more. He and I are elevenly-sixth cousins from back there somewhere. let me hear from you...Bib

Are you related to Mr Sam Lassiter who was with the old Commerce Union Bank in the early 70's? My maiden name is Lassiter...I am from the Goodlettsville area. We are related, I am sure, in fact there is a big mix-up in the Frederick Lassiters. There were two of them...in about the same time frame, and it has been a pain.
