    3. Norma, I have a Sarah Ann Hoover in my database and a few Shelton's, but no Lifus. Sarah would have been my half GGG Aunt and her mother was my GGG grandmother, Sarah Ann Priestley (Hoover), (Gregory), (Burnette). Sarah Hoover's known sibs were Martha Jane Hoover, James Priestley Hoover, and Joseph Hoover. I don't have anything on Sarah Ann Hoover, except that the age you gave would have been close and her family was in Rutherford County around the time you state. If any of this sounds like yours, I do have quite a bit on Sarah Ann Priestley Hoover and her ancestors. Let me know if you are interested. 3. Hi Betty, Thank you for the reply. As yet I don't know the route they took from NC, but will let you know if I find anything. 1. RE: [TNRUTHER] Roll Call/BOWLING
    2. Beth Bowling
    3. I am searching for the parents of Matthew Wilson Bowling...he was born somewhere in Virginia in 1818 (maybe 1819) He lived in Rutherford County in the 1830's and probably in the 1820's...he was married twice, first to Susan Yardley, on January 1 1842 and then to Nancy Sanders on November 19, 1863. He had at least nine children, maybe more. Nancy Sanders is our line, and the son, Marshall Lee is my husband's grandfather. Matthew was a farmer, and as far as I know, so was Marshall. I am pretty sure that Matthew had a brother named James who was born in 1815 in Virginia, and married Rebecca Herrod on November 10, 1846. He died in 1868 in Rutherford County. If someone has information on this family I would appreciate that also. One of James' descendents was Zadie Beatrice Bowling who married Edward Key. Zadie was born October 20, 1921 in Murfreesboro and died August 31, 1992 in Murfreesboro. I believe that she worked in the library at the University there. We know that Zadie was my husband's cousin, and we talked to her several times and have letters from her, and also copies of some of her genealogy records. Zadie's son, John, gave a lot of her papers to MTSU history department before he moved to Texas, and they have been kind enough to check those papers for more information on the Bowling family, but found nothing that would help. If anyone has any information on ANY Bowling in the Rutherford County area or either of the wives, I would really appreciate the help. We had the DNA test done for the Bolling Family Association program, and we are supposed to be in a Benjamin Bowling line, but don't know which Benjamin. It is all very confusing!!!! 3. Terry, I too am interested in the Jesse Reed family. A man by that name married into my Montgomery family in 1823 in Rutherford County Tenn. The bride was Matilda Montgomery, a sister to Martha Louisa Montgomery who was my great-great grandmother. It is certain Matilda was born in Mecklenburg Co. North Carolina and I have some evidence Jesse was born in that state also but not necessarily the same county. Both Jesse and Matilda died in Shelby County Illinois and had issue there. I am in touch with an elderly woman who is one of their great-granddaughters. She has tried to find her ancestors in Rutherford Tenn but has been unable to connect. She tells me all the Reeds in Rutherford County seem to decend from the John Nash Reed family and she has been unable to connect. Does any of this sound familiar? 3. Thanks for the roll call and hello to All. I am researching the Jacob HALL Sr. family of Rutherford Co, TN. I am looking for the parents and birthplace of Jacob HALL Sr. who died in 1844, Rutherford Co, TN -- also would like to know when his wife died (Will recorded 2Mar1844, probated 6May1844 -- no mention of wife). He may have been the Jacob HALL who married Elizebeth Davis on or after 28 Jan 1787, Wake Co, NC. The family moved to Rutherford Co, TN in time to be enumerated in the 1820 federal census. According to the 1850 federal census for TN, his son Jacob G. HALL was born around 1804 NC and married Eliza Ann McDANIEL. I'm entertaining the idea that Elizebeth DAVIS, Jacob HALL Senior's wife, may have had siblings or other family that moved to the area also. I am also researching the families, particularly the ancestors of, John Wesley BOYD and his wife Susan N. PITTS who married 29 Oct 1867, Rutherford Co, TN. I am aware of a ZUMBRO connection to my John Wesley BOYD family. Thanks, Diane Hall-O'Dell On Jan 23, 2005, at 7:03 PM, [email protected] wrote: > COMPTON, ZUMBRO, HALL, VINCENT/VINSON, COGBURN AND BARNES. > Really, Really, would like to find info on William Vincent and Mary > Ann > Cougburn. > > Thanks, > Vernon Compton > > > ==== TNRUTHER Mailing List ==== > Smyrna Public Library > 400 Enon Springs Road West, Smyrna, TN 37167 > (615) 459-4884 > > >

    3. HI Diane, Sorry that I have no knowledge of your surnames. Do wish to insert here that my SUMMERS, along with several other families that settled in Big Springs, Rutherford Co, were also on NC 1800 census and are next found in Big Springs on the 1820 census. I have been looking for some time for the migratory route they took. It could have been thru KY, the OLD WALTON RD (thru the mountains of East TN), or the HOLSTON RIVER, and thru GA. Do you have any idea or info how your family arrived here in TN? Do you have any SUMMERS, JACOBS, GAITHER, LOWE, LOVELACE, NEWMAN,GREEN, PATTERSON, to name a few???
