Joan I am happy to hear from you. I just came in from work and so I will have to look at my records in the morning. I believe I have some information on the ones you are looking for but I will have to check to be sure. I will let you know tomorrow. Gina
Hi Paul, My grandmother was Addie Zumbro, her mother was Mary M. Hall, daughter of Randolph Hall and Mary Cannaday. Randolph and Mary Cannaday had children, John , Abner, Mary M., Lavender, Mormon, Lambert, and Jarmon. I have found John listed as John W. and John R. Randolph's parents were Jonathan Hall and Joannah Barton, they had about fifteen children and one of them was named John W.. So I believe this must be the same family as yours. My grandparents lived on Halls Hill Pike and this was a toll road at one time. Run by the Hall and Barton families. My grandparent bought the old toll house after it was no longer a toll road. Hope this helps, Vernon
Hi Vernon- First, thank you very much for the message. Randolph Hall does not show up in any of the searches I have done on my John W. Hall. But, much of it is via Ancestry.com's One World Tree which is difficult to verfy. Do you have a birth date for Randolph's or Jonathan's John W. Hall and marriage/children data? That would be very helpful in that my grandmother was a child of John W. Hall. My brick wall is still Vianna Rucker, b. 1849 in Tenn. I believe she is the d/o James Madison Rucker and Mary (Rucker) Rucker. There is an 1860 census record of Bedford Co., Tenn. listing a V. E. Rucker, 10 yrs, old living in the hh of James and Mary. Vianna married my ggrandfather, R. A. Colbert, 1870, Rutherford Co., Tenn., and was disowned by her family. This Vianna should not be confused with another Vianna who was born in 1812. If my supposition is correct, the older Vianna would be "my" Vianna's aunt. Do you know anything about this family???? If so, please let me know where else to look for some record of her. Thanks in advance, Darlene
William is the brother of Alexander Keith who married Ellen Wadley. That's my husband's line. Alexander ended up in Christian County, KY as well. Lots of Rutherford County family names there. Tabitha Ella "Bitha" White, daughter of William Carroll White and Cornelia Cothran, was born 18 Jul 1879 in Rutherford County, TN. While this person should have been enumerated on the 1880 census, I have yet to find him or her. Tabitha Ella "Bitha" White married Stephen Elmore "Shack" Bennett, son of Drewy B. Bennett and Sally Lovenia "Venia" Smotherman, in 1897. The 1900 Federal Population census enumerated the head of the household and the relationship of each person living in the household to him or her. It listed their ages, the number of years the head of household and his wife were married, the number of children born to the mother and how many of those children were still living. Tabitha A. Bennett (age 20) was listed as the wife of Stephen E. Bennett (age 23) on the 1900 census in the 8th Civil District of Rutherford County, TN, on 12 Jun 1900. Tabitha Ella "Bitha" White was listed as Stephen Elmore "Shack" Bennett's wife on the 1920 Census in Rutherford County, TN, on 22 Jan 1920. ED 120, Sheet 8, line 28. Tabitha Ella "Bitha" White died 31 Jan 1958 assumably in TN? Bitha Bennett was buried in the #6 Bennett Cemetery located in Rover, Rutherford County, TN. They had 4 children, Mary, Richard, Willie May and Louise. Darlene- My GG GF, John L. Phillips, widower, married a Verginia (sp per 1880 census) Rucker in RU Co. 17 Aug, 1869. In 1870 census she was shown as Jemmie tho I suspect it should have read Jennie. According to her age shown in the two cenuses, she was born in either 1842 or 43. Her middle initial is listed as C. Do you happen to know if these two might be sisters? Hi Mari, That is certainly a good possibility. I will see if I can check the census out and see if they appear there. Do you know what county Florence is in? Hi, I am researching the following names in Rutherford County. Bowman Caffee Jacobs James McCrary Pearson Wilson I am especially interested in finding the father of Wesley Wilson who was born in 1847 in Rutherford County and died there in 1925. Gina, I am related to these WINSTONS but forgot to include them in my roll call. They lived in Wilson Co. TN and went to Alabama ca 1860. The father of this Isaac Winston that married Mahala E Hunt was Isaac Winston b.1769 and his mother was Nancy Brandon. I am looking for the father of the elder Isaac Winston who was the brother of my Martha Winston. It is said his father was John Winston who was married to Sarah Ann Winston. Do you know anything about John Winston?
