    3. OK I can do that , I have NANCY CLORENCE STUBBLEFIELD b:c. 1800 SC/NC who moved herself [pregnant] and all of her children from Jackson County AL just after the 1840 census to Rutherford County, TN for the birth of her last child {my GGGreat Grandfather ABSALOM [various spellings] STUBBLEFIELD in 1841), according to family story. We do find NANCY STUBBLEFIELD HOH in the Jackson County AL 1840 census with the correct amount of children of the right sexes and ages. And we do find several of Nancy's children's marriages in Wilson Co. TN in the 1840's. Then we find many of those families living next to Nancy Stubblefield HOH in Gibson Co., TN in the 1850 census. But I have no documented proof of Absalom Stubblefield being born in Rutherford County, TN. I do have the records of his siblings marriages in Wilson Co., TN which is a hop-skip-n' jump away. 3. I am on a quest! <G> I'm trying to help a good friend find where there was once an area called the Norman Settlement". This would have been early in the 1800s. His family stories, which he knows may or may not be true, have always said that this area in the Smyrna-Jefferson. Now, if this is true, I may be living on top of it! My friend cannot find any info except for an old RCHS publication. I've read something a while back regarding this "settlement" but it's been several years. Can anyone help? I know he would be very appreciative. Thanks much, Mari

    1. BROWN - BELL Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Ada BROWN also known as Mrs. John BELL, which was taken at the Laurence L. de Anguinas Studio in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Ada looking to be in her 20's or 30's at the time. Based on limited research I believe that this may be a photograph of Ada BROWN who along with her parents, R.S. and Alice M. BROWN were living in Rutherford County, TN during the 1880 census. R.S. BROWN was age 35, a Merchandiser (probably owned a mercantile store) born in TN to parents born in NC. His wife Alice M. was age 31, born in TN to TN born parents. Seven children were living with the family during the 1880 census including, T.E. age 15 (Clerking in Store), J.W. age 13, Ada age 11, Robert age 9, Nina age 6, Mary age 3, and Irine age 2 months, all born in TN. A cook, a servant, and a store clerk were also living with the family at the time. I believe that Ada BROWN married John Smith BELL (b. 20 Nov 1852 at Shelbyville, TN) on 12 Nov 1890 in Rutherford Co., TN. It appears that this was a second marriage for John Smith BELL, however, the couple had at least one child, Robert Stripling BELL b. 1 Oct 1897. In addition to this photograph I also obtained a photograph which I believe may be somehow related since the handwriting on both photographs appears similar. The second photograph is one of Will C. WILLIAMS, his wife, and son Henry WILLIAMS which was taken at the Irwin Studio in Chickasha Indian Territory. The photograph was likely taken in the 1890's with the couple likely in their teens or 20's and little Henry just an infant. I'm hoping that the families can be located so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to family. If you are a member of this BROWN - BELL Family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. Thomas Aldridge SIKES - also SPRINGER, LENTZ, and WEST
    2. Gregg Bonner
    3. Hi Folks, My hypothesis is that Louisa Ann SPRINGER (06 JUL 1831 – 28 APR 1916), wife of Samuel Jonah LENTZ (08 SEP 1826 – 16 AUG 1910) is the daughter of Josiah SPRINGER and his 2nd wife, Rebecca SIKES. I understand Rebecca Sikes to be the daughter of Thomas Aldridge Sikes. I have seen where folks list Elizabeth Springer as the daughter of Josiah and Rebecca, but I think they may be missing Louisa (as another daughter of theirs), since she married in 1849, and thus exited the home of her father just before the 1850 census. I am trying to find information which will confirm or refute this notion. I am hoping that people can provide information regarding SIKES, SPRINGER, and LENTZ (sometimes LANCE or LENS, etc.). Particularly, I would like to know if the will of Thomas Aldridge Sikes mentions his grandchildren. Alternatively, does the will of his wife, Sarah (Willis) Sikes mention grandchildren? Or perhaps there is something in the pension records, obituaries, Bibles, etc. In any case, I am hoping someone can help me tie “my” Louisa Ann (Springer) Lentz to Josiah Springer. By the way, I descend also from Andrew N. West, brother of Asa Henry West who married Elizabeth Sikes. Descendants (partial list) of Thomas Aldridge Sikes to follow (in post-script).
