    2. Teresa, thanks so much for the suggestion and the info that many of those names are found in Wilson Cty.! I recently found one of my g grandgather's sisters had moved to Wilson County, but I didn't stop to think that there could be more....you'd think that by now I would be able to make those mental leaps....(but I still don't) ;-). Thanks again, I'll do some serious hunting for all my Rutherford County lines in Wilson to see if I can find the "missing connections". Thanks again! Melissa

    2. Although Thomas S. Ward (my ggg grandfather) left no will, there is plenty of documentation as to what happened to his estate in the Settlement Books. I am including information on the distribution of the estate since so many different names are included. I also have copies of records on the Guardian's settlements for his children. I'd be happy to post if anyone is interested. There are also some unrelated persons whose information is on the same pages as those of my ancestor and I will try to post those as I get them transcribed. 1. Your BARFIELDs in Jefferson
    2. Ed-Janis
    3. Wow Mari--you're BARFIELDs in Jefferson area way pre-date my WALLERs best I can find. My ancestors apparently arrived in that area only about 1829-30, from Mecklenburg County, Virginia. That is kinda odd that someone from Rutherford Co and someone from Williamson Co. TN would meet and marry in Mississippi...maybe they travelled together from TN to MS--I think that's what happened to some of my WALLER kin who married into the McDOWELL line from VA, but did so when they arrived in Rutherford Co. I'll certainly keep an eye out for your BARFIELDs though. 3. Williams Barfield also came from Mecklenburg County but it was S.C. Yes, I agree with you..It was very odd that they were there...well...maybe not though. Miles Barfield, Williams' Dad lived there. Williams was a tobacco broker and went back and forth between here and there. Also, Stephen Barfield, who was in Williamson County at that point , was prolly related to Williams although I can't verify it. He made Williams an heir...confusing...in 1796....in Montgomery County! WHEW! I think he did it on purpose so I wouldn't find him!!!!! :) Yep, I have a deed that dates 1803. Mari >Wow Mari--you're BARFIELDs in Jefferson area way pre-date my WALLERs best >I can find. 3. Hi everyone, I just want to brag on you all. As of a minute ago our Rutherford County TNGenWeb site has had 1,651 hits since Feb. 1. I just decided to put up a counter. Congrats to every on who has sent in info and worked so hard to make this a visitor friendly site :) If anyone wants to do a "special project" let me know. Rutherford County is famous for fantastic ppl who work very hard. Right now I'd love to have African-American and Native-American information for the page. Any ideas and/or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Mari

    3. Hey Ed, My Williams Barfield lived in Old Jefferson way before it was called "Old" <G>. I know your ancestors were in that area. If you ever see him please give me a yell. (Actually, if you saw him I'd expect more than a yell..maybe a scream of horror <VBG>) He lived next to Fred and James Barfield on the left fork of the Stones River. This was in 1803 or before. I have him here and then in Amite County, MS (near Natchez) in 1810 where he married Harriet Tarkington who was from Williamson County, TN. Kinda strange, huh. 1. William Rowton - division of estate
    2. While researching Wood families in Rutherford Co., TN - I came across this entry on William Rowton. I think the Thomas L. Wood named here is the son of Owen L. Wood and his wife Nancy. From Marsh's book: Wills and Inventories of Rutherford Co., Tennessee Book 7, page 331 We met at the dwelling house of WILLIAM ROWTON, deceased, late of said county and proceeded to value and divide the negros belonging to the estate of said WILLIAM ROWTON, deceased. First lot drawn by WILLIAM D. ROWTON, five negros valued at $1157.00. Second lot drawn by MARY ROWTON, widow and relixt of WM. ROWTON, deceased, for the benefit of THOMAS L. WOOD and his wife POLLY WOOD provided they comply with the agreement entered into on the 12th January 1830 by the executors of WILLIAM ROWTON, deceased, five negros valued at $1072.00. Third lot drawn by JOHN ROWTON and contains three negros valued at $1127.00. Fourth lot drawn by MARY ROWTON benefit of BENJAMIN HANCOCK and his wife ELIZABETH on same condition as expressed in second lot above and contains three negros valued at $1193.00. Fifth lot drawn by (illegible) (illegible) and his wife MARY for three negros valued at $950.00. Sixth lot drawn by PEYTON ROWTON for 4 negros valued at $964.00. Seventh lot was drawn by BAKER WRATHER and his wife RHODY for three negros valued at $1280.00. Eighth lot drawn by JOHN WALLS and his wife ONEY for two negros valued at $1224.00. Signed by WM. W.
