Steve Jackie has a point in her email...Southeast Tennessee and much of northeast Ga was still Indian land until 1817-18...the only white settlers were the ones who had either married into the tribes or had a special dispensation from the council to live on their lands. Whites weren't even allowed to travel across the lands without special permission.
