I am descended of Wm. Watkins b 1805 TN who in Knox cO, Tn, married Margaret Byerley/Bierley, daughter of Mary Moore b ca 1767 SC and husband Jasper Byerley, JR, of Germany/SC/Knox cO, tN. Wm's brother Samuel also married Margaret's sister Lucy Byerley and by 1852 Samuel and Lucy were in the Ooltewah area while my line went to Loudon, TN. Wm and Margaret's two sons were Union soldiers, Samuel Watkins and Wm Douglas Watkins b 1843 TN. W. D. Watkins married Nancy Brown HART b 1852 TN, daughter of George B. HART b ca 1816 TN and wife Ellen Ekins/Aikens/Adkins. Robert Paul Duncan/Dunkin b 1815 VA m in NC Adeline Whitaker, daughter of Sen. James Whitaker of NC. Adeline and Robert's daughter Lettice Duncan/Dunkin married John Willis Hooker, son of John C. HOOKER b 1810 MD and wife Rachel Green b ca 1830 NC. John Willis Hooker had two daughters who married Watkins of the previously named family of Loudon, TN.
