    1. [TNROOTS] Street Interview from the Chattanooga Free Press,1933.
    2. This is an article called the Roaming Photographer ,he stops people on the street and asks questions of them and takes their pictures. Here is just a sample of them.It doesn't list the interviewer's name. "What is your pet slang exprssion?" was the question asked this week, below are the answers of those interviewed. C.W.ELDERS,mechanic,5001 Seventeenth Ave. "What I say probably more often than anything else when things don't go right is 'Dadgum the luck', that seems to express te way I feel about it pretty well." (there is a decent pic included) EARL MARKHAM,hitchhiker en route Daytona Beach,Fla. "Guess I use the exclimation 'Great Jumping Jehoshephat' more than any other one.Of course Jehoshephat probably never jumped more than twice in his life, but nevertheless,it's the one I use. It's funny the things people get to saying isn't it ?" (pic also) KEITH BAKER,hitchhiker en route to Daytona Beach,Fla. "When I'm startled or outaged or amazed, or most anything else,I usually say' My Father!' I know it sounds silly but I've said it for years.Don't guess it sounds any sillier than 'my cow' at that.Do you think so?" (pic also) EARL CRYDER,ironmolder,1104 Greenwood. "I don't know.I guess perhaps I say 'phooey'about as much as anything. It can express more disgust in less time than anything I know of,is pretty good for disbelief too.Oh,I use it for a lot of things." (pic also). If that question were asked today,I wonder id they would be able to print the responses? Sigh, such innocent times those were. Karen. Chattanooga Free Press,Sept.7,1933.
