I am trying determine if there were any descendents of George Wilson and Eugenia (Kingsley) Wilson, who married June 28, 1836 in Davidson County Tennessee. Wilson may have been either the editor of a Nashville newspaper (Nashville Gazette) or perhaps a relation of the editor's. Eugenia G Kingsley was the adopted daughter of Capt Alpha Kingsley and his wife Elizabeth (Ayer) Kingsley. I do have some information to share with anyone who is interested in that family line. davidk

Sr and Elizabeth Nevilles Brooks, son of Hezekiah and Betty Rowlett Brooks. Thanks for any help, Bette Sutton Rodey Article below from 1935 OFFICERS SHOT AS THEY MAKE TRY AT ARREST Green Allen Brooks Accused of Killing Redmond and Bailey Arch Redmond and Bob Bailey, two deputy sheriffs of Lee County, were shot and killed this afternoon about 2:00 o'clock, at Denny's Place beyond Piney Spur, on the Virginia road, according to Chief of Police Charles H. Minton who was called to help investigate the shooting. Green Allen Books is alleged to have fired upon the officers as they went to his home to serve a fugitive warrant on Luther Poore, who was wanted in Middlesboro. Brooks is said to have used a high-powered rifle. He immediately fled, and is now being hunted. Poore was on the front porch when the shooting occurred. Poore is reported to be the son-in-law of Brooks. Chief Minton, after rushing to the scene of the slaying, hurried to a telephone to call Sheriff R. F. Giles. ************************* * Note- He was finally caught in Texas, going by the name Preacher Jones and holding and preaching a revival. Hi all, GenLookups.com has been updated with several new lookup and volunteer resources. http://www.genlookups.com Bill
Show a little kindness and do not print this kind of information because some people and/or their relatives from these years are still alive. It is very hurtful to have things posted on the internet. I have a friend who has never been able to get past her terror as a child when a member of her family was murdered. If it must be done, please post only events before 1900. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Ktain02@webtv.net> To: <TNROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 02, 2002 12:14 PM Subject: [TNROOTS] ARTICLE OF ARREST MADE IN HAMILTON CO,TN,1920. > Her are some names from the article of > arrests made April 22,1920. > If anyone recognizes a name let me know and I'll send the details. > These were in the Chattanooga TIMES > paper. > > WOOD,James (alias Long) > KANCY,D. > ROBINSON,John > MARSHALL,George B. Do you have a child interested in family history? Would you like to encourage a child in your family to explore his or her heritage? You can help nurture the budding family historian in your family at this year's East Tennessee Historical Society History Camp. The camp will be held July 8-11, 2002, at the East Tennessee History Center in downtown Knoxville. At the camp, kids will enjoy learning methods to research their family tree, such as talking to older relatives, using original records, visiting cemeteries and libraries, and touring history museums. Each child participant is invited to bring along an adult family member to help them dig their roots. The ETHS Family Tree Camp provides families with an activity they can do together not just during the camp, but for years to come. Part of the fun of genealogy is the interaction between generations as young people interview older relatives and hear the stories and events that have become part of a familys history. Help us plant the seeds of historic interest in tomorrow's generation. For more information about this year's camp and how you and a child in your family can participate together, visit the ETHS web site at www.east-tennessee-history.org Sincerely, Shane Rhyne East Tennessee Historical Society www.east-tennessee-history.org
