I received my obituary book a few days ago. Just wanted all to know it's a great tool for researching Anderson & Campbell Co, TN families. It's a very good book & would be very helpful to anyone researching these areas. Hi, If this email is in response to the one I sent earlier today regarding where do I begin searching in Davidson County for my Dalton line, believe me, I have queried all of the surrounding counties of Davidson County. I have literally spent hours writing and submitting queries to county mailing lists, any and all of the Dalton sites I can find, plus look-up requests. But, I still would appreciate any suggestions. Because I know so very little about this Dalton while he was in Tennessee, I don't know where to begin to track him. I only have what I related in the email this morning. Or even the counties NORTH of Davidson/Robertson County.. only in Kentucky.. I found a few of my Tennessee family.. actually in Kentucky.. only the boarder changed just slightly..or they just moved a few miles. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, November 01, 2000 10:29 AM Subject: Re: [TNROOTS-L] Davidson County >Are there other surnames in Davidson County that have the same names >of the ones you are looking for? Hi List, I need your honest opinions, suggestions and help. If Missouri census states that a particular ancestor was born in Tennessee and by this you have an approximate birth date (@1815 Tenn) for him. You also have the same for his wife (b:@1815 Tenn), by the same source. Family history handed down and apparently documented by a death certificate, has their first born child born in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee in 1835. Within the next 2-3 years they are in Missouri as supported by the following childrens birth location on Missouri 1840 census. I have no other location to go on other that Nashville and I do not have paternal ancestral information for this line. I estimate that this couple was married @1834 in Tenn, but have not been able to locate a marriage record or where in Tenn it took place. I know very little about the maternal ancestors for this family, and nothing strong to go on to pinpoint a search area. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I would procede with this? This is a Dalton surname line but I have not been able to connect it with any known Dalton lines in Tennessee as yet. It has been a major brick wall for other researchers as well. Your help is very appreciated. Bev Clark
Thank you Alma

Are there other surnames in Davidson County that have the same names of the ones you are looking for? Or try surrounding Co Alma

Thanks, Anna
Hi all, I don't know who depended upon the Harden Political Infosystem as much as I did but I was really missing it when it was removed. I had no idea that it was being re-vamped and moved to a new domain. The new site is so much better and very attractive. It is now called Capitol Impact and is a valuable tool for finding which cities belonged to which counties, and displays great county maps, etc. The URL is http://www.capitolimpact.com/ Hope you like it as much as I do! Bill Much of the time land grants were made in payment of service during the Revolutionary War or perhaps the War of 1812. He was, perhaps, a veteran. Your email doesn't make it clear if the grant was made in 1784 or 1813. 1813 being when it was recorded. Tennessee was not "Tennessee" until 1796 so records would probably be from North Carolina or the "Carolina's" Joyce Gaston Reece, Rootsweb Listminder for NE-TN; Hembree; Galbraith; Knuckles; Raper & Meigs Co., Tennessee ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, October 28, 2000 5:18 PM Subject: [TNROOTS-L] Re: TENNESSEE LAND GRANT 1784 > Does anyone know how I can find out HOW, WHERE and WHY or WHAT, the > following Tennessee Land Grant was issued to THOMAS HALL, for??? > > Bill > XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX > 526 Recorded May 8th 1813 > > The State of Tennessee ---- No. 4710 > > To all whom these presents shall come --- GREETINGS: > > KNOW YE, That by virtue of Warrant No. 507 dated > the July 10th 1784 issued to Thomas Hall by John > Armstrong Entry Officer of claims for the North Carolina > Western Lands and entered on the 29th day of August > 1807 by No. 386 ? > > there is granted by the said state of Tennessee unto The said > Thomas Hall and his heirs ------ > > a certain tract or parcel of land, containing Three thousand > acres lying in Bedford County in the Second District > and on both sides of Elk River -- Beginning at a cherry > tree, sugar tree and ashe, they being the North East corner > of a survey made on the house of Edward Harris for > 640 acres running from thence East 520 poles to two > souiwoods and black gum thence South crossing Elk River > in all six hundred and fifty poles to a red oak and two black oaks,. > thence, West Eight hundred and Eighty poles to a chestnut tree in the > East boundary lines of James Winchesters Survey, thence North > 394 1/2 poles to two sycamores and horn beam in the south > boundary line of said Edward Harris' survey in a small > Island? thence East with his lines Three hundred and Sixty > poles to two Ashes two birches said Harris' south east corner > thence, north with another line crossing the River, two hundred and fifty > six poles to the Beginning. If so, might I impose on your kindness to request a lookup for my great-grandfather, FREDERICK THOMAS CHAMBERS, b ~ 1852.
