Tricia, The plot thickens! I had seen the census that showed Thomas Clift living in the Hampton household. I didn't know that Delia's maiden name was Pigg. I am going to have to do some searching in my files to see if I can make the connection. It seems that Thomas Clift must have been related to my great grandmother, Margaret Clift, but I don't know how. He possibly could have been her brother. Since I have not been able to prove who her father's parents were, I cannot trace her siblings. I think I may have said that I had their names, but I should have said that I knew her children's names. Give me a chance to look through some of my files, and I will get back to you and see if we can make any connection with your George ggg grandfather, and my Pigg or Clift family. Think it was common for these young men to live with some of their relatives and help with the farm work for their room and board. I'll be back in touch. Joyce Park Riggs
Hi all, For your reference, I've been collecting and creating search engines for obituary archives of special groups such as colleges, universities, fraternities, and clubs. You can search these archives for your surnames as yet another resource for your family research. It is a part of Obituary Central ( http://www.obitcentral.com ). The URL for the Special Obituary Collections is http://www.geocities.com/cribbswh/obit/special.htm Thanks, Bill

Hello, I hope I am posting to the right list. I have been receiving posts from this site for several weeks and enjoy seeing the names and responses. So far, I have not seen my family that I am having the hardest time locating. Here are the names: BRENT OR BRENTS CLIFT PARK ELLIS DOUTHIT PIGG I have located a lot of PARK information, thanks to another Park descendant that I found through the Lincoln County list. I have posted several queries for my BRENTS and CLIFT ancestors. Here is what I know. My great grandmother, Margaret CLIFT was married to John Moore PARK. Her parents were James (Newton?) CLIFT, B. TN, and Mary (Polly) BRENTS, b. NC. In the 1850 Lincoln County, TN, census, they are shown with several children still at home and they are ages around 40 years old, which would make them born around 1810. I have not been able to determine who the parents of James CLIFT were or the parents ot Mary (Polly) BRENTS. I believe that James Clift was one of older children of Henry CLIFT, Sr., but have no real proof. I have not been able to connect Mary (Polly) BRENTS with any set of parents. I would love to hear from anyone who might have an ancestor that might fit with these people. I have the names of all the children of James Clift and Mary (Polly) Brents Clift. Hoping for a contact. Hello all, I am hoping for a Christmas Miracle here! Last time I posted these folks I got a few little nibbles and any info is more than welcome since I have had a brickwall on these folks for many moons. Well, Hoppy, I'm with you. I've been on here about a year and have yet to see a child missing alert, or flaming, or other chit-chat. Only a few pleasant greetings and a lot of help from all the good friendly people. I enjoyed the discussion about recipes. And thank the people who have helped me. But Miss Kell has put a kabosh on the pleasure of it, so she can just unsubscribe me and I also will go to a friendlier place!! Apparently she has put a hex on the site, so I will wish everyone Happy Holidays, cook some good food, and watch your children. The other B... List Members, I received this message from Rootsweb which has been in process of upgrading.....please read the message below as it will affect everyone on the mailing list. Thank You, [email protected] list manager ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- Date: Thu, 7 Dec 2000 01:28:55 -0800 As was stated in an earlier (a week or so ago) message, RootsWeb will be upgrading its lists3.rootsweb.com mail server. This is desperately needed! You may have a few questions. Q: How do I know if any of *my* mailing lists will be affected during the move? A: An alphabetical listing of all mailing lists that will be impacted by the upgrade can be found at: Q: When will the upgrade take place? A: The upgrade will commence Friday, 8 December 2000 at 7:00 A.M. Pacific Standard Time (GMT -08:00) Q: How will the upgrade impact my ability to maintain mailing list(s)? A: Starting at 7:00 A.M. (PST), lists3.rootsweb.com will be unavailable. We expect the entire upgrade to take 10 hours. Lists3 will not process mail for most of that time. Q: Will people still be able to post to mailing lists during the upgrade? A: Yes and No. - No messages will be lost, though will be delayed. - Messages will not be posted to mailing lists until *after* the upgrade/move is fully completed. Q: Will I be able to use my lists3.rootsweb.com utility page during the upgrade? A: Yes, but: - No subscribe/unsubscribe commands will be lost, though they will be delayed. - When the move is completed, your old utility page will automatically be redirected to the new list server. Be sure to bookmark the new location. - If you use old-fashioned X-Commands (most of you don't), and get a "suspicious format" error, send all X-Commands to lists7.rootsweb.com instead of lists3.rootsweb.com. Q: Will anything be lost during the upgrade? A: If your list settings or files (welcome message, accept list, etc.) are updated while we are in the process of moving your list to the new server, all changes may be lost. Please be sure to review your entire list setup upon the upgrade's completion. Q: What do I do if I find "bugs" after the upgrade? A: If all goes well, there won't be any bugs to report. Right. But if you do happen to spot some anomalies (new anomalies, not the ones that are inherent in SmartList that we've been living with for four-odd years now), post a message to [email protected]

If anyone has access to the death records from about 1870 to 1900, for Washington County Tn, would you please look-up THOMAS HENRY RUTH ? He also just uses HENRY RUTH And his wife MARY BRADY RUTH. Last I was able to find them was the 1870 census, Fall Branch, 13th. district, Washington co.Tn. Born abt 1790. Thanks very much. Billy Pierce
That is called Stones River Battlefield in Murfreesboro Tn, it is a really neat place. I they do have a list of the people buried in the cemetry. I use to live in Murfreesboro and in the summer time you have to call and make an appointment and they take a certain amount of people on a tour at night through the battle field and you have lanterns to carry at night to see it's really neat but they have everything there on the civil war. thanks Diana ----- Original Message ----- From: jconnick Sent: Wednesday, December 06, 2000 5:03 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TNROOTS-L] Murfreesboro Their is a civil war graveyard at Murfreesboro. I need help with a single year/person/state census index lookup. For Tennessee in the 1860 Census Index please lookup Charles REVETT. I found my 2nd great grand father Charles Revett interred in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee. His cemetery record states: Revett, Charles, d. 12/31/1866, SGT F 44 USC INF CIVIL WAR, Dec 31 1866, Plot: J 3920. I have the years 1850 and 1840 for TN but the 1860 Index book was missing and considered stolen. I did not find Charles Revett in 1840 or 1850 in Tennessee but feel he may be there in 1860. He was not found in GA, AL, or MS since his marriage 29 Jun 1839 in Clarke County AL to Susanna PERRY. Thanks for helping with this request .....
