    3. Mona, You may want to check with Ancestry.com regarding a magazine they publish, called History. It has some excellent information in each of the copies-----the kind that you are talking about and they might be able to tell you if they have information, in past issues, that is more specific to what you are wanting, or to refer you to another source. Good luck. Betty ----- Original Message ----- From: "mona everett" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 10:21 AM Subject: [TNROOTS] Women's lives > Hello! 3. There is a book called Women's Diaries of the Westward Journey by Lillian Schlissel, published in 1982 by schocken books of New York. Would this be what you are referring to? 1. [TNROOTS] Granny Lewis Creek?
    2. mona everett
    3. A relative once saw a sign for Granny Lewis Creek, but did not know at the time that my greatgrandmother was called Granny Lewis. Her real name was Eliza J. Kirk Lewis and she lived at Powell, Knox Co, TN in mid-late 1800s and was a midwife. So I figure she got around some. Would love to find this creek and learn how it was named. Thanks!

    1. [TNROOTS] Nancy Petty and Lydia Petty
    2. Mona Hagy-Rose
    3. This is what I have found out so far, but the puzzle is just not connecting (LOL). On the 1850 Census for Stoddard Co,, Mo., Castor Township, page 283A 440/447 Austin Hattey, 49, male, Farmer, real estate-500, born NC Lydia, 48, female, born NC Riley, 15, male, farmer, born TN Sarah, 14, female, born TN On the 1850 Census for Stoddard Co,, Mo., Castor Township, page 284A 455/459 Elusha Pettett, 40, male, shoemaker, born TN Sarah, 26, female, born NC, person over 20 years of age who cannot read or write Nancy, 15, female, born TN Martha, 13, female, born TN Lydia, 10, female, born TN Levi, 7, male, born TN Missouri, 4, female, born TN Barberry, 3, female, born TN Sibby, 1, female, Born MO. note by Mona: Sarah is only 26 years of age above, which would mean she was 11 when Nancy was born. I believe Sarah is the stepmother to Nancy, Martha, Lydia and Levi. Their mother could have died in TN. info off of rootsweb (author June Bowman): Sheba & husband may have stayed in Chatham Co., N C? Sheba's M/2 may have been to Redden Bryant in Chatham Co., N C? Lydia & Nancy Petty maybe daughters of Sheba's sister Lydia. They were with Lydia Hatly 56 in 1860 census. Living with Charles & Christenia Riddle in 1850 was John Bryan 8 b. Mo.? There was a Bersheba Bryant in Hardin Co., Tenn. in 1840? On the 1860 Census for Stoddard Co,, Mo., Liberty Township, page 375 168/153 Lydia Hatly, 56, female, farmer, real estate-1,200, personal-75, born NC Nancy Petty, 25, female, born Tn, over 20 and cannot read or write Lydia Petty, 18, female, born TN George W. Dowdy, 24, male, born KY Note by Mona: Lydia could be an Aunt to the girls, I am sure it is not their mother by the Census. This is really a confusing puzzle! (LOL). The reason I am so interested in this family is because Lydia Petty married John A. Montgomery and are the parents of Dora I Montgomery who married Marshall J. McFarlen/in/and parents of Clarence Oliver McFarlen/in/and who married Martha Anna McKay parents of Dora I McFarlen/in/and who married Carl Freeman Hagy parents of Archie Isaac Hagy (my father). We have been trying to figure out the relationship of George W. Dowdy. Connie Perkins

    1. [TNROOTS] New Census Spreadsheet Available!
    2. Gary Minder
    3. I recently posted an offer on several lists to send a copy of a U.S. Federal census spreadsheet I developed to anyone interested. The response was overwhelming! It quickly became obvious to me that there are many people as frustrated as me over not having a good method for organizing census extraction data. I created a website to handle the demand for my spreadsheet and quickly got busy developing more spreadsheets for my fellow census researchers. I am proud to announce that I am now making available a new spreadsheet I call CENSUS TRACKER, which I created to supplement and compliment my U.S. Federal 1790-1920 spreadsheet. It allows a researcher to document up to 130 years of the most genealogically significant census data for an individual on a single worksheet! At a glance and in a very professional appearing report, you can trace the important aspects of your ancestors' lives. Your pile of census data, difficult to analyze and evaluate when buried in drawers and paper files, comes alive when logically organized! I invite you to stop by my website at http://www.censustools.com and take a look. Census Tracker and my other spreadsheets are available for immediate download! If you previously visited my website at rootsweb, please change your bookmark. If you use the old address you will be redirected to my new website.
