In 1860 Roane, there is a listing for Joel E. Isham 32 TN, wife Frances 26, Carrol 2, Geo. W. 3/12 Nearby is Preston Isham 37, Nancy 33 and kids. Also nearby is Guilford Delozier, and other Ishams who I presume are related. My GUESS is that this Joel Isham and Frances is the son of Charles or Elijah Isham who married Mary Polly Barnett. The Frances would be consistent with being Frances Cofer, daughter of Jonathan Cofer. Elizabeth Cofer 44, is also living in same area. I haven't worked on all these ties, but would encourage descendants to look in that direction.
