Tina, the problem with this is that in the pension application of Mrs. Barnett, she says they married in 1799. And that doesn't allow for a daughter born 1780, or other children who were born in the earlier 1790s. It could all work IF there was an error, and she meant to say 1789, and Elizabeth was about 16 when she married. Otherwise, there must have been a first wife for Carter Barnett, which is what makes us all crazy. Census information is notoriously wrong, so we can't always count on that--but sometimes it is all we have to go by. I am thinking it is important to try to determine the ages of all of Carter's children, in order to accurately reflect any particular line. If anyone has any documentation on any of the kids, I hope they will share it.
