I am looking for a person or persons who can direct me to a location to find paperwork relating to Edward Owings (b. 1766 VA, d. 1857 TN), his wife Elizabeth Sumpter (b. 1763 VA, d. bef 1850 TN), their daughter Sarah "Sally" Owings (b. 1802 TN, m. 1830 TN, d. 1899 MO), and Sarah's husband Enoch Underwood (b. 1802 SC, d. 1879 MO). Sally and Enoch left Roane CO about 1842 for Polk CO, MO, but all their children were born in Roane CO before they left. I would also appreciate if anyone knows where Edward and Elizabeth are buried. Samuel Sumpter Owings was their son, but I'm not sure if he and they were buried in the same place. I do believe that Edward's son William and daughter Polly are buried on the old home place, but I don't know where that is, other than near Kingsport. Any help would be appreciated. I have done a book on the Underwoods going back a number of generations from Enoch. My husband desc. from Enoch's sister who lived at Post Oak. I did the 2nd Underwood book because I couldn't show the records that are proven on the Underwoods. As for the Owings I imagine they are buried at the Old Post Oak cemetery here in Roane Co. because Edward was instrumental in starting the church.. Edward was the son of William Owens/Owings who wrote several letters to another of our Roane Co. line back in 1790/1800 era. He lived in Burke Co., N. C. at the time. I have Owings friends here and a neighbor who lived across the street had the Sumpter line. She said they connected to Gen. Thomas Sumpter. My husband had an off shoot of his line who married a sister of Thomas but I haven't tracked tham.
