Hello everyone, Just wanted to share my family lines as they relate to Roane County. They include: Robert KELSAY and Rachel BALL (could be BELL?), parents of Mary M. (or could be Sarah M.) KELSAY who married James Knox Polk YATES in 1861. Miles and Deborah (Holmes) YATES were married in 1840 and their son was J.K.P. YATES, b. 1842. Deborah Holmes' parents were John and Lydia (Register) HOLMES. John and Lydia had at least 9 children. John and Lydia came from Greene county, TN to Roane County, probably around 1840. Surnames associated with the Holmes family are: PHILLIPS, REINHART, MORRISON and BOWMAN. I do not know the names of some of of the wives of the sons. Francis was married to Lucy ??? and they had two daughters, Malinda and Mary. Son William lived in Shelby County, AL. JKP Yates' son James William Milburn Yates married a BREEDLOVE in Howell County, MO in 1885. JKP's daughter Myra also went to MO with her brother James and died of T.B. in 1888. The daughter left behind in TN was Lydia, and she married Clement CLARK in 1888, Roane county. I have much more on the Holmes family than I do on the Yates lines. It begins with Miles Yates and that is all I know. I have a lot of information on the Kelsay family too. And Lydia Register's family has been researched too, to some extent.
