While we are on the subject of SHORT family, I will post some notes I made during a search for Holland folks (not very successfully). I strongly suspect Mary Short is sister to Willis Short. When they arrived in Roane County, and whether they were the only ones in their family to travel from SC, I have not determined. But since they live close together, I feel confident they are related. I have not really worked on the SHORT family, and would be interested in sharing any information as to the parents of Mary and Willis. There seem to be two William Hollands in early Roane, one moving soon to Morgan Co. Some of my notes. ++++ WILLIAM HOLLAND was born Bet. 1760 - 1770, and died Bef. 1840 in Roane Co. TN. He married MARY SHORT April 09, 1808 in Roane Co. TN. She was born Abt. 1792 in SC. (In view of the age difference, there is always the possibility that this William Holland had a previous wife, and of course, other children) 1823 Capt. Taylors Co Tax List has Willis Short 1825 Capt. Taylors Co. Tax List has Willis Short 1827 Capt. Caseys Co. Tax List has Willis Short 1826 Capt. Caseys Co. Tax List has William (sic) Short. I don't know anything about this man, nor what is meant by the (sic) in book. I think it is probably Willis Short though. 1830 Roane County TN Census page 2 Holland, Wm. 111/110/001-122/001 [60-70, 30-40] (listed 6 lines away is Willis SHORT) 1840 Roane County TN Census page 39 Mary Hollen 021/111-011/110/1 Wright Hollen 000/001-000/1 (Willis Short is on preceding page 1322101-2001001) 1850 Roane HH1312 Mary Holland 58 SC (presumably, Mary Short Holland) Nancy (Holland) Row 28 TN (m.
