Crossville Chronicle obit... James L. Vance Jan. 11, 2003 James Luther Vance, 55, of Black Jack Road, Rockwood, passed away Jan. 11, 2003. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 14, 2003 from the chapel of Evans Mortuary, with graveside services and interment held Jan. 15 in the Roane Memorial Gardens. Bro. Bob Holder officiated. Mr. Vance was the son of Kirkland Luther and Marie Vaughn Vance. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Rockwood and a graduate of Rockwood High School. He served in the Army National Guard, Rockwood Unit. He was a heavy equipment operator and was employed by Phillips and Jordan of Knoxville. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Vance; daughters and son-in-law, Michele Vance of Rockwood and Denise and Terry Christopher of Crossville; their mother, Janet Foland; step-son and wife, Michael and Deanna Hester of Harriman; grandchildren, Natasha and Dakota James Green, Shayla Marie, Tanner, Brylie and Trey Christopher and Caitlyn Hester; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Connie Vance, Danny and Lavada Vance, and Carl and Teresa Vance; sisters and brother-in-law, Diane Vance and Linda and Freddy Brummett, all of Rockwood; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and special family friend, Ms. Hassie Kirby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirkland Luther and Marie Vaughn Vance. Pallbearers were James Cagle, Dexter Bradford, Gabe Bradford, Danny Futrell, Billy Grigsby and Junior Roddy. James was a kind, gentle and loving man who cared deeply for his family and friends. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood was in charge of the arrangements.
