3) Edmund McGuffey reportedly lived with his wife in Buncombe CO., NC, Franklin, Smith, and Morgan CO. TN. in the period of abt. 1790-1850. Edmund McGuffey and his wife are reported to Have died in Smith CO., TN. There is an inventory of the estate of ‘Edward McGuffey’ in Smith CO., TN. dated Aug. 21, 1852 (I have a copy of this inventory that gives the name Edward).
