Hello friends! I am trying to determine just where my Sellers ancestors lived in Roane Co in the 1840's, 50's, and 60's. My ggg grandfather, Micah H. Sellers is listed in the 10th civil district tax rolls for 1857 and 1859. I know he was elder of Shiloh Baptist Church and is buried in the old Shiloh cemetery near Barnardsville, south of Kingston. Is that in the 10th civil district? I am told he came to TN from NC about 1815 to the Hiwassee District. In 1820 he was part owner (with John and Moses Farmer) of Emory Iron Works on the Little Emory River and probably lived north of the TN River. In 1830 he lived in McMinn Co. From 1840 until his death in 1872 he lived in Roane Co. His descendants still live in the area, I am told. Some lived near Wheat, some in Rockwood, etc. At the time of his death, his farm was sold as instructed in his Will. One of his neighbors at that time was B.F. Welcker, in whose Home Guard Unit Micah had served in the Civil War. Does anyone have the personal knowledge, or know of where I might find a map showing the old districts as they were then? Thanks in advance, Cindy McLaughlin [email protected]
