Go south at the Kingston exit from I40. Maybe a mile, on the left is the "old" courthouse, now the Roane County Heritage Comission. That is where you will probably have best luck. If I'm remembering right, they're closed on Thursday. Do a search on their name & you'll find their website. Lots of old records that exist NOWHERE else plus microfilm of everything that TSLA in Nashville has on Roane Co. & folks there are very helpful. "Real" courthouse is just benind old building & visible from there. Library, which didn't impress me, is further south on main drag (sorry I don't remember name of street) and off to left in new office complex. Once you get to old courthouse (you can't miss it - pre Civil War building) they can tell you about other places to visit. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dave Berry Sent: Sunday, April 07, 2002 9:10 AM To: TNROANE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNROANE] maps Need to find a map and address's for the library, court house, historical societies, etc. to do some serious researching on an up coming trip in May.
