Crossville Chronicle obit... John "J.C." McCoy March 19, 2003 John "J.C." McCoy, 81, of Rockwood, passed away March 19, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22 from the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, with the Rev. Tom Tapp, the Rev. Denny Moore, the Rev. Jim Whittenbarger and the Rev. Stephen Pickard officiating. Interment will follow in the Ozone Cemetery with military honors by the Crab Orchard VFW. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Evans Mortuary. Mr. McCoy was a member of VFW Post #9686, Crab Orchard; a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; retired minister and stone mason; and active in the Big Emory Baptist Association. He pastored Pomona Baptist Church for 23 years and Daysville Baptist Church for 19 years. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marie McCoy of Rockwood; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Angela McCoy of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Robert Taylor of Andrews, NC, Betty and Jerry Randolph and Jane and Chuck Rector of Crossville; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome McCoy of Crossville; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arley, Lane and Reese McCoy; and sisters, Ann, Lil, Corene and Ginny. Memorials have been requested for the Sub-Acute Wing, Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville or for the church of your choice. Evans Mortuary in Rockwood is in charge of the arrangements.
