The location below is for present day Washington County. It depends on which year in history your trying to find the Washington County boundary. Washington County, NC and early TN was all the territory west of the dividing line between the two states. The divisions began ..... and lasted until the end of the 1800's. So depending on what year as to what county the old homeplace, etc. may have been located even thought today it may be Carter, Washington or Roane County. Washington County is located to the right of Hawkins Co. immediately under Sullivan between Greene Co. on the left, and Carter Co. on the right. It is located in the eastern corner. 3 counties to the right of Knox, From Knox Co. to the right it will be Jefferson, Greene, and Washington Co. This is from THE HANDYBOOK FOR GENEALOGISTS M39 (MAP PAGE). ----- Original Message ----- From: "sharon brown" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 06, 2000 8:01 AM Subject: [TNROANE] Washington Co. > Can someone tell me where Washington Co. is and if they have a rootsweb > address? > Thanks... >
