Crossville Chronicle obit... George A. Manning March, 13, 1938 - Sept. 24, 2002 George A. "Pete" "Saucer" Manning, 64, of Rockwood, passed away Sept. 24, 2002. Masonic memorial services will be held tonight (Sept. 27) at 8, followed by funeral services in the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood, with the Rev. Alton Johnson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at Roane Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Evans Mortuary. Mr. Manning was born March 13, 1938, in Ozone, TN. He was a retired maintenance craftsman at Fortafil Fibers with 16 years of service, and was a former electrician with Roane Electric Furnace for 25 years. He attended Swan Pond United Methodist Church, and was a member of Rockwood Lodge #403 F&AM and Alhambra Shrine of Chattanooga. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Wanda H. Manning of Rockwood; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Jeff Braswell of Katy, TX, and Dr. Karen Clement and Dr. Kevin Clement of Murfreesboro, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Scott D. and Eva R. Manning of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer Braswell, Luke Clement, Carly Clement, Reggie Ramey, LeAnn Ramey and Anthony Ramey; great-grandchildren, Holly Ramey and Devan Carter; brothers-in-law, Buddy Dill of Rockwood, Wayne Hembree of Signal Mountain, TN, and Loren Hembree and his wife LaDonna of Farragut, TN; mother-in-law, Alpha Hembree Eve; and several niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Manning, three brothers and two sisters. Memorials may be made to Dogwood Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 32 Old Gordon Rd., Grandview, TN 37337; the American Cancer Society; or the American Heart Association.
