    2. Carolyn Wilkerson
    3. Hi Wanda, Are you planning on taking a crusie down the Clinch River? Please don't take offense. I just put a book written by family member Elmo M Woolsey on our Woolsey website in which Elmo talks about the Clinch River where he lived as a boy. It sounded like a nice place to be on a warm summer afternoon but terrible in the rainy season. Elmo's father was a Methodist minister and Elmo tells about the places and people in the areas in which they lived. He talks of Emory Gap, Silverdale, Dunlap, Mt. Vernon, Evensville - and a few more that I don't recall at the moment. Our families mentioned include the Woolseys, Goddards, and Margraves. I'm always interested in the family members and if you have information that you would like to share I would appreciate. The website URL is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~woolsey/books/movingon/movingon.htm l A thank you to everyone who contributes to TNROANE mailing list. I've enjoyed being a list member. 3. Carolyn, Heavens NO.... I am putting together a map of the area..Placing peoples names on the land that they owned when the government took over in the 1940's.. A gentleman that works at one of the plants at Oak Ridge is going to make a display case for it to put in the restored New Bethel Baptist Church...My people were of the Wheat community... And I can't for the life of me remember the 3rd island. I don't know if it's Hagler or Hembree or what.... If you happen to run across the name please let me know. I'm hoping to have this map done for our Grubb reunion in May... Thanks Wanda

    1. Re: [TNROANE] AYER/AYERS family Roane Cty TN
    2. David Kingsley
    3. Hello Margaret, I've been researching my Kingsley line; specifically Alpha Kingsley of VT who married Elizabeth Ayer (Zacheus Ayer's daughter) in November 1809. They lived with Zacheus for a brief period before moving to Nashville. Alpha died in 1846 and his wife I believe after 1860. They are burried in the City Cemetary in Nashville. I suppose your have searched the boards at Rootsweb and Ancestry.com for Zacheus Ayer? Zacheus was married to Sarah first and when she died he married Polly Brown. When Zacheus died Polly remarried and had one child. She and Zacheus had 6 children I believe. Zacheus took his family form the "peedee" are of SC for better farming in TN. He was one of the first settlers in Roane County. If you search for Roane's web site, you will find alot of references to him. He had travelled to TN to scout out a location before he moved the family there. Last year I was in touch with John Curry a "Brown descendent" who gave me some information. He lives in Alabama. You'll will see his posts in the Ayer family forum; some going back a few years. Let me know what else I can try to help you with. Also, Elizebeth may be listed as Eliza or with the middle initial A. in one of those two censuses. There are no RAINWATERs in Roane Co. in the 1880 census, so one would assume they moved to Roane Co. between 1880-1885. There is no listing of a George A. RAINWATER in Tennessee in the 1880 census. There are a number of RAINWATERS in Jefferson Co., and well as some in Bedford, Benton, Fayette, Montgomery, & Stewart Cos. in TN, but no George, George A., G.A. or combination of the name and initial. There are no listings for RAINWATER in the 1920 Roane Co. census, nor are there any RAINWATER listings in the Roane Co. cemetery books, so looks like they moved out of the county at some point. That's about all the help I can give you with the materials I have at hand. Good luck--Ken Parks
