    3. I had a lot of kinfolks settle in the Wheat/Sugar Grove area (generally around the K-25 plant of Oak Ridge, which is easier to find on a map of today). Smith Phillips is not a direct ancestor of mine either, but I had him in my data base. Now I have added his kids. I would expect Mrs. Moneymaker to be deceased by now, but don't know for sure. I have never read her book, but seen it mentioned many times. I would like to have one--maybe I'll try to find a used one sometime. I don't think I knew she was a Phillips descendant. Thanks. I had a visit yesterday here in Houston from an old Oliver Springs school mate, and we looked at photos and talked for a long time about *olden days*. It was fun. I hope to get back for a visit there before too long. PMc > Pat, > > Thanks for your reply. I had found your website some months back when I > first started researching the area. 3. Pat, Thanks for your reply. I had found your website some months back when I first started researching the area. It is really helpful. You must be proud of all your Dad's hard work. And you have added so much to it! Yes, the Mary Sellars you found is the daughter of Smith Phillips. Newton Micah Sellers, her only husband, was Micah's youngest son. He died in a Yankee prison camp in Indiana during the Civil War. Micah thought very highly of her, and remembered her and her children generously in his will of 1870. The Phillips are no blood relation of mine, except through her children as distant cousins, but I like knowing about them. Wanda Albers explained about the locations of Wheat and Barnardsville. It is the latter that is south of Kingston. Speaking of Wheat, do you know if Dorothy Sellers Moneymaker is still alive? She is a descendant of the Sellers/Phillips marriage, and wrote a book on Wheat Community, I'm told. Thanks again, Pat. If I can ever help you in some way, don't hesitate to ask. Cindy

    3. I have new email address - [email protected] Cindy You might be interested in a mention of Micah Sellers at http://www.roanetn.com/ironwk.htm Incidentally, Wheat was not _south_ of Kingston. I don't know where Barnardsville is/was. There are maps on the Roane Heritage web site, and you can get some information about the Wheat community at http://www.roanetnheritage.com/c&p/wheat/index.htm Sorry, I don't know anything about Sellers family, but it looks like there might be some connection to a branch of my Phillips ancestors. I notice in the 1870 census, 16th district, that Smith Phillips 59, has in his household Mary Sellars 33 TN, and three children. I have never researched Smith's family, but I do find a marriage for Newton M. Sellars to Mary A. Phillips on 12 Feb. 1856, in Roane Co., so most likely same person. Guess old Newt was deceased by 1870 (or divorced?) They are living next door to John T. Phillips 26, wife and family, who is a son of Smith Phillips. Smith Phillips descends from Clemmon Phillips, RW soldier. 3. Hello to all! I am new to the list and thought I would put out my surnames and see if others are currently researching them. I am descended from Micah H. SELLERS born 1786 in NC; died 1870-72 Roane Co TN. He was a Baptist preacher in the Hiwassee District and was affiliated with several different churches in the area, but spent many years as preacher at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church south of Kingston, near Wheat and Barnardsville, I'm told. I have quite a bit of information on him, but am in the dark about his parents, his two wives (Isabella ? and Sarah Breeden), and the dates of birth of his oldest children. My line comes through his son William P. who married Margaret MATHENY in Roane Co. 1830. I know there are descendants of Micah still living in Roane Co and would love to hear from some of them. Thank you. Cindy Sellers McLaughlin

    3. Hi everyone, Tom Agan, my co-host for the site, has been busy with transcribing records for the site. I've added some new documents, including estate records, pension records, and letters. Tom's already got more documents transcribed, and I'll be adding those in the next few weeks. Carol Yates Wilkerson has contributed some wonderful pictures for the photo album that I'm sure you'll enjoy! Also be sure to check Roane's files in the USGenWeb Archives (linked to from my page!). David Morgan has contributed quite a few documents pertaining to his Wood ancestors. S-K Publications has provided a surname index to the 1830, 1840, and 1850 Roane County census records. Thanks Tom, Carol and David! You'll also notice that I've re-organized the site. I hope this makes navigating the site much easier. If you find any dead links, please let me know about them, and be sure to tell me what page you found it on. The URL is http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnroane/ Marceline
