    3. I think Alpha Barnett was NOT the mother of any Blackwell children. There was a marriage for a George W. 3. Yes, I see Henry Isham 76 VA and Elizabeth 75 with kids, in the 1850 census, household #1655 There is also a Henry Isham 30, TN, and Anna 34 VA in household #995. Smiths live on either side of this couple, and there is no land value given, and no children shown. In 1860, there is 1812-1677 HENRY Isham 40 and Anna 44 1813-1678 Joel E. Isham 32, Frances 26 and 2 kids 1814- Betsy M. Smith 1815-1680 Preston Isham 37, Nancy 33 and kids 1829-1694 Elijah Isham 29 TN, Rebecca J. 28 1830-1695 George Blackwell 24, Jane 22, 2 kids 1832-1679 George W. Isham 30 TN, POLLY 62, Mary 23 [***Is this Mary "Polly" Barnet Isham?***] 1838-1702--HENRY Isham 86 VA land value $1600, Elizabeth 78 1839-1703 - James Isham 47 TN, Elizabeth 38, and kids (one is Henry 5) 1843-1707 - William B. Isham 47, Betsy A. 46 and Kids In 1870, Roane 13th District, Betsy Smith, Eliga Isham and Rebecca, George Isham [age 30} and Mary, John Isham 44 with kids, Gerusia Laffew, HENRY ISHAM 50, Margaret 34, and Preston Isham 45 are all living in a row, as I mentioned before. No sign of old POLLY. 3. The will of Carter Barnett mentions his daughter Mary Isham, so I would lean toward that being same woman. No proof, unfortunately. However, I have no idea, or certainly any knowledge, about the problem of Elijah/Charles. The given name, Preston, is interesting. Of course there was a prominent family in Roane with surname Preston, but I don't know of any connection in this regard. I do notice that an older sister of Mary Barnett married Preston Hickey in 1809, so I suppose there could be some tie in there (uncle). Do you have reason to believe the Henry Isham might have been an older son of Elijah/Charles and Mary too?. They were married in 1818, and I am showing Preston as born abt 1824. This Henry age 50, and Margaret 34, are living next door to Preston Isham in 1870. In same area, John Isham 44 with a 13-year old Preston; a 30-year old George Isham, wife Mary; Eliga Isham 38, wife Rebecca J. 42. Also Laffew and Swisegoods nearby. I sure would think old Henry was a part of this tribe--and perhaps the oldest child of Mary and Elijah/Charles???? The Blackwell family is tied to the Barnett family via two daughters (sisters of Mary) marrying Blackwell men. They died early and their orphans were farmed out. This is where my I have gotten interested, through Blackwell, Roberts, Silvey ties to the Carter Barnett descendants. 3. Hi Pat and listers, The household of Polly Isham is thought to be Elijah Isham's family. I am looking for information that would prove or disprove Charles and Elijah to be the same man. Elijah is my 3rd great Grandfather but have so far only have records in the name of Elijah Isham. Elijah's wife is thought to have been a Preston or Barnett. Preston because of the son named Preston and Barnett because of the marriage record most likely. Does any one have any records to help prove if Charles is Charles Elijah? I am also a descendant of Jerusha Barnett Leffew daughter of John Berry Barnett and Cynthia Small. Willing to share. 3. Mary "Polly" Barnett married Charles Isham on 8 Mar 1818 Roane. The 1850 census of Roane, household #1665 shows: ISHAM, Polly 54 NC (no land value shown) ", Preston 26 TN farmer ", John B. 24 TN ", Geo. W. 22 TN ", Joel E. 21 ", Elijah 20 TN ", Martha J. 18 TN ", Mary 17 TN They are living near #1663 Elisha Martin 62 VA, land value 1200, and Catharine 64 VA In the Martin household is a Geo Blackwell 15, TN, who I would think might be the son of Alpha BARNETT and George W. Blackwell (Sr). [George Blackwell Sr. had died, and Alpha married secondly, Samuel Silvey, Jr. in 1846] Alpha and Mary Polly Barnett are daughters of the Rev. War soldier, Carter Barnett.
