Juanita, I would suspect that it could have been spelled as COFFEE. They certainly slaughtered most of the names back then. I don't recognize the name Meredith. I think my bunch were in Roane Co. and prior to that from NC. I haven't done much on my research lately - too much holiday preparation, I think. I'll keep your mail and holler at you after Christmas. Thanks much for the response. Brenda, Have we chatted previously? I'm trying to find out anything on an Elizabeth Cofer b. ca 1802 who married Thomas Davis ca 1824-26 most likely in Tn. They were in the Morgan Co., Tn census in 1830 with 2 children, Robert and Margaret. I have extensive info on the descendants, but next to nothing on Elizabeth (or Thomas, for that matter). She may be the oldest child of George Cofer and Juliann (or Julia Ann) Underwood. I do have additional info on some Cofers that I've stumbled across while looking for my Ellizabeth. Will share. I have Joel's father as Elijah who as we discussed last week MIGHT have been Charles Elijah. Still looking for proof. Does anyone have any documentation that could prove it at hand? In 1860 Roane, there is a listing for Joel E. Isham 32 TN, wife Frances 26, Carrol 2, Geo. W. 3/12 Nearby is Preston Isham 37, Nancy 33 and kids. Also nearby is Guilford Delozier, and other Ishams who I presume are related. My GUESS is that this Joel Isham and Frances is the son of Charles or Elijah Isham who married Mary Polly Barnett. The Frances would be consistent with being Frances Cofer, daughter of Jonathan Cofer. Elizabeth Cofer 44, is also living in same area. I haven't worked on all these ties, but would encourage descendants to look in that direction. Hi All, In the current issue of the "Roane County Roots" by Robert Bailey and Darleen Trent there is an abstract of a estate record for Elizabeth Cofer. It names her heirs as Harriet ROBERTS, Savannah DELOZIER w/o G. H. DELOZIER, Z COFER, Frances ISHAM ( names all 8 of her children), W.T. COFER and C.C. COFER. E.C. ROBERTS was the administrator. Was Elizabeth Jonathan Cofer's wife? Any tidbit helpful. Willing to exchange info. Thanks, Brenda Duff [email protected]

Not EXACTLY Genealogy, but it IS historyand definitely a once in a lifetime happening........Shirley ------------------------------------------------------------------- A Full Moon that Has Not Been Seen in 133 Years. ------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a very special full moon this month that will be very interesting. Be sure to have your cameras ready on the 22nd of this month. *Full Moon on the Winter Solstice* For the first time in the life of anyone around today, we'll see a full moon occur on the Winter solstice, December 22nd, commonly called the first day of Winter. Since a full moon on the Winter solstice occurs in conjunction with a lunar perigee (point in the moon's orbit that is closest to Earth), the moon will appear about 14% larger than it does at apogee (the point in its elliptical orbit that is farthest from the Earth). Since the Earth is also several million miles closer to the sun at this time of the year than in the summer, sunlight striking the moon is about 7% stronger, making it brighter. Also, this will be the closest perigee of the Moon of the year since the moon's orbit is constantly reforming. If the weather is clear and there is a snow cover where you live, it is believed that even car headlights will be superfluous. On December 21st, 1866 the Lakota Sioux took advantage of this combination of occurrences and staged a devastating retaliatory ambush on soldiers in Wyoming Territory. In layman's terms: It will be a super bright full moon, much more than the usual, AND it hasn't happened this way for 133 years! Our ancestors 133 years ago saw this. Our descendants 100 or so years from now will see this again.
