Hello, This is a note for Milly, who is on this list. I'm not sure if this is really a Roane Co. question, so I'll be brief. Milly, in your list of surmames, MINTON is one of them. We also have Mintons. Ellen Elizabeth MINTON (ca 1848 to ca 18730) m. Thomas W. CHILTON. Her parents were Mary Jane CHADWELL and James Wilbern MINTON. His father was Zachariah MINTON. I don't have all my info, but Ellenwas born in Tennessee and I think the family was from NC, but not positive. This doesn't seem like a large family, so I thought there might be a connection. If there is or a possibility, please contact me: [email protected] Thanks so much, Sandra [email protected] wrote: > > Part 1.1Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822) > > Part 1.2Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822) > > Part 1.3Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822) > > Part 1.4Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822) > > Part 1.5Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822) > > Part 1.6Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822) > > Part 1.7Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822) > > Part 1.8Type: Microsoft MHTML Document 4.0 (message/rfc822)

The published Roane Co., TN cemetery records make mention of a Crabtree family cemetery. Do any subscribers know anything about this cemetery? Thank you. C. Ward [email protected]
Just wondering how far back the cemetery records go. My TURNERs (John, John, Jr.) and McMULLINs (Rebecca, Jason) were members between 1833 and 1851. These individuals moved on to MO, but at least one child (Fisher C. TURNER) died in Roane. Is the cemetery listing online anywhere? Thanks. Ruth Ann
Several times the name "Turnbill" has come up here, so I cannot resist giving one little tidbit from my Watkins files. Samuel Watkins, founder of Watkins Institute in Nashville & one of the most prosperous Watkins in early TN history, was orphaned before 1800 in Campbell Co, VA, of PA father Jacob Watkins. For awhile he was placed in the home of a Jacob Turnbill, from which he is known to have been removed, biographies of the Watkins family commenting saying that it was " a cruel Scotch-Irish home." I also have a SC record concerning the Turnbill family: John BROWN, box 105, pack 2671; will dated Sept 27, 1785 in 96 Dist prv Nov 30, 1786: exr: son Wm. BROWN. Wi: Wm. CARSON,John BETTY,Joseph TURNBULL. Wife Mary Brown. Chn: Elizabeth, louisa,Sarah, edy, Mary, Wm. BROWN. Grdtr Anna BROWN. My interest in this line is that Wm. Douglas Watkins b 1843 married Loudon, TN, Nancy BROWN HART b 1852, dau. of George B. HART & Ellen Ekens/Akens. Here are notes which show the path of migration well: Campbell CO, VA: Page 228.
