Below is a clip from some of my Walker research. Can anyone answer the following questions. 1. Reuben Walker can be found in the NC Census in the early 1800's, does any one know who his father is? 2. What Center and Rice families Susan Elizabeth Rice and her parents belonged to and where they might have been from? Thanks, Leota "1. REUBEN2 WALKER (UNKNOWN1) was born 1790 in Randolph Co., North Carolina, and died April 18, 1876 in Overton Co., Tennessee. He married (1) SUSAN ELIZABETH RICE, daughter of ISAAC RICE and SUSAN CENTER. He married (2) AGNES COPELAND Abt. 1851. More About REUBEN WALKER: Burial: April 18, 1876, Allred Cemetery"
Hi Hillbilly, I have been called an Oakie and Oklahoma Hillbilly. Do you happen to have in your "Call Me Hillbilly" book the names Johnson and/or Harrison/ My grandfather James Leodia Johnson was born near Rockwood, TN and my grandmother Nancy Bell Harrison was born in Byrdstown, TN. I have quite a bit on the Harrisons, but very little on the Johnsons. James father was Green B., Green's father James Madison. Hopeful, Joan C. ............................................................................ ............. > Hello List, > > I have a small book called "Call Me Hillbilly" by Gladys Trentham Russell. > There are 200 families listed and 80 photos, if anyone wants me to look up a > name in it ,let me know. Do you have any info on a Lula Luara King. She was born in WV but moved to Tn in the early 1900 with her husband James Seabolt. She lived in Fentress and Morgan Counties. Would love to find her parents or where they were born at. She was born in WV per her death certificate, but does not list her parents names. By 1870 Harvey and Louisa Kelley (census taker spelled it Kallie) were in Crab Orchard, Cumberland Co., TN. With then were five children: John Alexander (c. 1858), Mary (c. 1864), Walter (c. 1865) David (called Dick), James (c. 1870), and Rubin (c. 1875.) (Well, I guess Rubin wasn't with them yet.) It is said in more than one branch of this family that Harvey Kelley was originally known as ?? Dorsey and came from around Walhalla, Oconee County, TN. Eventually most of the boys and their children moved to Rockwood in Roane County. Mary married Francis Derrick and they stayed in Crab Orchard. Over the generations the family spread out and lost contact. Many were involved with mining and went to Kentucky, Virginia, and Ohio in the early part of the 1900's. I feel certain a number stayed in TN but older generations are gone now and contacts lost. There is quite some mystery surrounding the origins of Harvey Kelley and several of us who descend from John A. have "bumped into" each other on the web and found some success in comparing notes. We'd like to find descendants from the other Kelley siblings to see if they have other bits and pieces we can use to piece together our puzzle. Below is a rather vague outline of Harvey and Louisa's descendants. At this point there is little formal documentation but perhaps someone will recognize some of the individuals. I have removed more recent descendants for privacy but will be happy to correspond privately with anyone who thinks he/she may connect with this line. Hoping for some new contacts and new light on the Dorsey/Kelley connection. Thanks to all, Nancy Custer . Descendants of Harvey A. Kelley 1 Harvey A. Kelley 1836 - .. +Louisa J.
