    3. Preston~ Thanks for sharing this info. In my last family newsletter I included a short article on surname popularity using the www.placesnamed.com site. Unfortunately, the site doesn't seem to exist any more, so your links will be helpful for future use. The map showing surname distribution was kind of fun, too. Thanks again! 1. Re: [TNROANE] DAVIS 1830 CENSUS
    2. Hello, I am looking for Nathan(iel) Thomas Davis(b.1811, in Wayne co.KY), that was in Roane co.TN in 1831 and married Malinda Oden(b.1813TN). I do not know for certain that he was there in 1830. His parents were Phinias Davis and Mary Loyd (married Dec.26,1804 Greene co.TN). They moved to Wayne co.KY between 1804 and 1810. Phinias, along with two male children under 10, one female child under 10, and one adult female (I assume to be his wife Mary), were in the Wayne co.KY 1810 census. I do not know anything about Phinias, Mary, their relatives (of any kind), or any of their other children. After, 1811 (when Nathan was born), they all seem to disappear. I did hear from several different researchers that 1) Mary died in about 1816 2) Phinias remarried a woman named "Nellie" and 3) Phinias may have moved to Ohio or Indiana or etc.... I haven't been able to prove any of these things, yet. So I am trying to find out what happened between 1811 and the time that Nathan Thomas Davis married Malinda Oden in 1831. I have a reasonable amount of information on Nathan, Malinda and their children after that point. As you can see, as far as the 1830 census, I don't really know what names to look for other than Nathan, Phinias, or Mary (if she was still living at the time). Thanks for your help, Alice Braddy Davis Elmendorf, Texas DAVIS, LOYD, ODEN, EBLEN, ANDERSON, HOLLINGSWORTH, HIGGENBOTHAM, AYERS, BRADDY, MCNARY, and more.......

    3. Alice, What Davis' are you looking for? I have a Thomas Davis b. ca 1800 probably NC who supposedly was in Roane ca 1824 and then is found in Morgan Co. in 1830 census. He probably didn't move; just created a new county.
