There was a James and a Jessi Tinnel listed in the 1890 TN Veterans Index for Roane County. Unfortunately I don't have access to these schedules. I found no Sophie. This sumer I was in Oakesdale, Whitman Co, Washington taking picutre of headstones. I came across oodles of Millers in the cemetery. Knowing I had some mixed in with my Blackburn, Littleton and Tinnel relatives, I took a few, hoping I might fit them in with my family. So far, I have not had too much luck. If the following people are in your family, I am offering the headstone pictures free of charge if you provide a SASE. Please email me privately. Thanks. Of course, it is HIGHLY likely that I might ask for further info. from you to see if these folks really are mine and I just don't know it. John R Miller 1848-1914 shares a headstone with Nancy An Miller 1852-1912 (Believe he is s/o Ephraim L Moore Miller and Emaline L Littleton) (Believe she is Nancy An Brown) Cora L Miller 1892-1927 George R Miller 1886-1968 (maybe spouse of the above lady because the stones are similiar Eliza J Miller 1858-1938 (possibly wife of this next fellow) (If so her maiden name might be Tuton) A P Miller 1851-1921 (I believe this is Andrew Peyton Miller) Fannie M Miller 1893-1982 Anna Miller 189_ - 191_ (poor picture; I cut off the last digit) John R Miller 1881-1954 David G Miller 1847-1905 shares a stone with Elizabeth J 1844-1932 George A Miller died 29 Nov 1914 age 34 Sheila in WA state

Hi, Just joining in, but my 2-gr grandfather was Joshua Smith, b. 1823 in Roane Co., TN. He married Eliza Joiner, b. 1823, in 1844 in Roane Co. In 1852, Joshua Smith was appointed administrator for the estate of Martha Headrick of Roane Co. I haven't been able to figure out why yet, maybe Martha Headrick was originally a Joiner, (Eliza Joiner was the daughter of Charlton Joiner and Elizabeth Maupin) but don't know for sure. Any ideas would be appreciated. Best regards, Joanna Smith Dunn
Hello Sheila, This is what I have found in the 1870 Roane census under Headrick. First it was spelled Hedrick,--Family number 14-14 Hedrick A , age 46 farmer, land value 200, born Tn. Mary age 49 , keeping house, born Va. Jas age 20, born Tn WJ 17 male, at school, born Tn BJ age ,15 female, born Tn J J age 13, male at school, born Tn S E age 11 male, born Tn I hope this is your family. Could the B J, be Betsy J.? Betsy short for Elizabeth? I also found these that were under other families--Jo Anna Hedrick age 21, DS, born Tn. Living with a family named Patten and Boyd-family number 5-5 Emma Hedrick age 21, DS, born Tn. living or working at family named Muecks, family number 44-41 T Hedrick 19, female DS,born Tn, with family named Sturges family number 4-4 Mary E. Hedrick, female DS age 12, born Tn., living with a family named Geasland number 128-126. This family I am somewhat familier with because they lived in the same community where some of my ancesters lived, they had a big farm etc. I hope this has helped you in some way. Marilyn,
Looking for info. on the family of Alexander Headrick and Mary Robinson. Will someone do a lookup on the 1870 Roane Co census, please? Do they have a daughter Elizabeth about 14 and a daughter Sarah about 10? Still looking for parents of my great-grandmother Elizabeth J Headrick who married Francis Leland Tinnel in 1878. Thanks for your time and help. Sheila in WA state

Is your ANDERSON line in Roane County or somewhere else? Allen E. Long
Hi Dorothy, I am still looking, too. I have extensive info on all of my relatives, except the Johnsons and Ambroses from Roane County. My great grandfather (James Madison Johnson) was married to Mary Elizabeth Ambrose. After she died he married (coincidently) Mary Elizabeth Selser. I cannot find anything else on Ambroses or my great grandfather's parents. I know his father was Greenbury and he had a half brother named JMJ (Lum) Johnson. No more info on the Ambroses at all. If you find any, let me know... I think we talked once before.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: <JDWhitfld@aol.com> To: <TNROANE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 03, 2002 6:01 AM Subject: Re: [TNROANE] Re: Website > i am still searching for my family names of ambrose and rutherford. > they lived in roan county in the early and later 1800's. if anyone has any > information, would greatly appreciate it > thank you > Dorothy rutherford whitfield > > > ==== TNROANE Mailing List ==== > Post surnames in capital letters so they are easy to find. > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
Hi Brenda, I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about Charles Bowman. I am looking for this for a friend who is researching this family. All she told me is that she needed to find out where he is buried. She is not on line, so she asked me to see if I could find out for her. I will be glad to ask her anything you would like me to. E-mail me directly, and I will see what I can find out from her. Brenda Brenda Duff wrote: > Hi Brenda, > Can you tell me anything more about Charles Bowman? Hi Wanda, I found a note about Wilkerson P Adkisson, my gggrandfather, being buried in Williams cem. but it didn't say which one. My grandfather was a Williams from close by Harriman, I suspect Swan Pond area. so I thought I might get lucky! My lines are WILLIAMS/ADKISSON/EDWARDS and all the various interesting women they married! Thanks for your time. Bev --
THANKS MIKE! Do you know if there is more than one? I have Williams and Adkissons and they seem to be buried in each others plots, I assume that most of these small grave sites are the homestead burial grounds where the in-laws and such might be buried too. Thanks for your time. Bev --
