My wife's line is from Horace M. Smith, brother of Charles D. Charles parents were Charles and Nancy (Jacobs) Smith. In 1860 census Rhea County, Malissa A, 4 is in her father's household, in 1870 her grandma Nancy Smith lived with them. Also shows Minerva J, 9. The "J" must have been a misread: "The fourth child of Charles "Dunk" and hannah C. (Casey) Smith was Minerva Tennessee, known as "Tennie" and she was b. in Rhea Co, in Oct 1860. She apparently came to Missouri with her sister, Melissa, and uncle, Wm. Smith. The "Dunkham" usually spelled like that comes from James Smith 1772-1843 and Jaly Duncombe 1770-1837. Charles was called "Dunk". "He was born 4 Feb 1823, according to his pension papers, in Rhea Co, TN. However, in the 1850 census and 1870 census he shows his birth state as Alabama. Dunk Smith did not marry until he was almost 30 years old, on 2 Jan 1853 in Rhea County, to Hannah Caroline Casey b. 1829 in TN. She is believed to be a daughter of Randolph or Abner Casey, and her mother named Elizabeth, born NC, 1785" There is way to much info on your Smith's to type here. I will have to either make copies of pages, or find a way for you to get a copy of this book. (150 pages) Larry
