    2. Earline, The only statement in the grant that could infer a bounding property owner is the statement: "....beginning at a Black Oak near a branch that leads by Brecton Proctor's.." I suppose that this could also infer that the branch was "Spears Branch." I have enclosed the complete copy below-as I can interpret it. "....beginning at a Black Oak near a branch that leads by Brecton Proctor's.." "on Cumberland Mountain" "on Spears Branch" "crossing Stage Road" "crossing Grimes Road" State of Tennessee No. 6444 200 Isaac McPherson’s Bledsoe Land Grant To all to whom these presents shall come greeting knowing that by virtue of Entry No. 97 and made in the office of the Entry Taker of Bledsoe County and entered on this 20 day of December 1832 pursuant to the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of the said state fiased (?) and on the 9th day of January 193? there is granted by the said state of Tennessee unto Isaac McPherson a certain tract or parcel or land containing two hundred acres by survey bearing date the 31st day of august 1836 lying in said county on Cumberland Mountain beginning at a black oak near a branch that leads by Brecton Proctors and black oak pointer then north 35 west crossing Spear’s Branch at 199.5 poles to the line in all 200 poles to a dead post oak and black oak pointer then south 55 east crossing the Stage road at 81 poles in all 160 poles to black oak on the side of a hill, then south 35 west crossing Grimes Road at 90 poles in all 200 poles to a white oak in the edge of a glade, then north 55 west 18? poles crossing the Stage Road to the beginning. With the hereditaments appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Isaac McPherson and his heirs forever in witness whereof Newton Carmon (?) Governor of the state of Tennessee has hereunto set his hand and caused the great seal of the state to his office at Nashville on the 6th day of November 1838 and 63 years of our independence.
