Hello, I'm new to this list and am researching PETERS and HUTCHESON (variously spelled). These families actually were also in: Hawkins, Grainger, and Bledsoe Co. with some relations in McMinn and Roane. I am particularly interested in the brothers Joseph PETERS, who married Nancy HUTCHESON, and Bruton PETERS, who married Agnes HUTCHESON (his second wife), sister of Nancy. These sisters were children of Charles and Rebecca (SKILLMAN) HUTCHESON. Joseph PETERS is generally and incorrectly given as the husband of Agnes and all of Joseph's and Nancy's children are confused with Bruton's and Agnes' children. Other siblings of Joseph and Bruton were: Elizabeth who married George MONROE, Mary who married Isaac THOMPSON, and Nancy who married Thomas KELLY. I noticed a posting from someone showing their descent from David Caldwell on the Monroe Co., TN rootsweb list. His son Audley Caldwell married into my PETERS line. Catherine PETERS was the daughter of Joseph and Nancy (HUTCHISON) PETERS (both died ante-1830, Bledsoe Co., TN and children moved to Rhea Co., TN with relatives/guardians). After Audley's death, Catherine (PETERS) CALDWELL moved, presumably with some of her children, to Bozeman, Gallatin Co., Montana.
