Hi Chuck, I am the list maintainer for TNRHEA and I find Terri's message to be appropriate. The purpose of a genealogical mailing list is to post blanket inquiries. Responses are another thing. For instance, if anyone has Cox connections, they may choose to respond to Terry personally. For another instance, if you were unhappy about someone using the list in a particular way you should write to me privately, not to the list because your note is not even genealogical in nature. For a third instance, I should respond to your complain privately, but I have chosen to reply to the list because I don't want anyone, particularly a new list member, to think that there is anything wrong with posting genealogicaly questions to the list. As I mentioned, that is the reason it exists. That said, I don't even mind if folks respond to genealogical queries via the list. The list is relatively small and someone may find a third cousin in someone else's post.
