Ladies and Gentlemen, My brother and I are currently working to research a book about the Confederate units to which our ancestors belonged. Private Larkin Gothard and his son, Private Augustus Henry Gothard, of Rhea County, were members of Company C of the 16th Tennessee Cavalry Battalion. 3rd Lieutenant John Wesley Dotson was a member of Company G of the 12th Tennessee Cavalry Battalion. For awhile, during the war, these two battalions were brought together to form Rucker's Cavalry Legion. I am seeking information from any descendants of the soldiers who belonged to either of these units. In particular, I am hoping to find out the oral histories of these men, that have been passed down through their families. Any newspaper articles, diaries, or unpublished accounts would an added bonus. Photographs would be especially interesting. We will gladly share information and photographs with anyone working on similar projects. Preserving the history of the sacrifices of these Tennesseeans is of primary importance to our project. Please contact my e-mail address directly, or call me at (803) 345-3057. Thank you, Brett Robert Brett Bradshaw Member: Captain John M.
