The past 2 years has been a most memorable experience for me & I have each of you to thank for that time. It has become necessary for me to unsub to the lists to which I belong for family reasons. You have helped me through some pretty tough times & you have shared some joyous events. For this I thank each of you. If there is a way, in the future, that I can return I will try to do that. That does not appear to be feasible in the near future but Heavenly Father works in wonderous ways. May to good Lord watch between thee & me, until we meet again... Bonnie F. (no address)
Was hoping someone might look at the 1850 census for an Ivey family as follows: Ivey, Robert 25 Margaret 17 Rachel Ann 3 This family is shown with other children in 1860 in Campbell Co., TN census in Jellico ~ my father's birthplace. However, my grandfather was born in Rhea Co., TN and I was hoping this might have been where the Ivey/Brock connection began for my g-grandparents (Sarah E. Ivey and James Brock). It would also be interesting to know if James Brock's family (my g-grandfather) shows in the 1850 Rhea Co. census. I have no information on his parents; however, I do know two of James' siblings' names ~ Will and Andrew (don't know when they might have been born, however). I do know that James was born in June 1857. James and Sarah were married in 1876 but I have no idea as to the location of their marriage. Any information on these family members would be very helpful. Thanks, Donna (Brock) Strong
Nancy, Back to thinking again ... Would you be able to look for me and see when/if James Brock and/or Sarah Ivey or Brock might appear in Rhea County? I have no idea at this point if their families both began in Rhea County OR if they might have moved there after their marriage (another date I am unaware of). The only information I have is from one of their son's death certificates ~ stating, James Brock was born in Kentucky; Sarah Ivey, Tennessee. I can tell you this: Together, they had six children: Arthur (supposedly, the oldest); Caroline (eventually married William "Wild Bill" Henry ~ she died at a "very young" age); William Coleman (b: 2/24/1886, Rhea Springs, Rhea Co., TN ~ my grandfather); John (b: 8/28/1887, TN); Alma (b: 1896, Jellico, Campbell Co., TN); and Taylor, b: 1897, ???). Any information you might be able to provide for me would be REALLY helpful. Looking for information the Pressnell's of Rhea County, TN. Father was William Riley Pressnell (Riley) born 5/1863, mother was Elizabeth (Lizzie) Rose Pressnell born 5/1864. They had the following children: Nora born 8/1883 Bertha born 6/3/1884 Mary Mae born 2/5/1891 (Mae) m. 12/21/1907 in Rhea County to William Walter Thompson. Edgar born 2/1894 Lawrence born 4/1896 Marie born 1903 The family was in the 1900 Rhea County census. They were also in the 1910 Meigs County and the 1920 Campbell County census. Because of the lack of a 1890 census, I am having one heck of a time tracing this family before 1900. Has anyone run across this family? Thanks Linda
Nancy, I confused you, I'm sure (after my message was sent back to me). "His MOTHER's father ..." The "His" refers to my uncle that I mention in the next line or two after ~ sorry about that. Nancy, On the 1891 Widow's Census, does Sarah Brock show up there? Also, what age is listed for her on the 1900 census? Is there an 1880 census for Rhea County? If so, do James and Sarah Brock show up there? If so, are there any children listed? What are the childrens' ages and the ages of James and Sarah? Our family Bible states James Brock died 12/15/1922 ~ well after the 1900 census listing of Sarah as a widow (if it's the SAME Sarah Brock). However, the Campbell County Death Index for 1914-25 does NOT list a James Brock having died in 1922 (or any year between for that matter!). His MOTHER's father died in November 1925 and I wonder if he's remembering HIS death (my uncle was born in December 1920). If my theory is right, James Brock may have widowed Sarah prior to 1900. I do know that one daughter was born in 1895 in Campbell County. Hmmmm.... Much thanks, Donna Nancy Cole wrote: > > Hi Donna, > > I enjoy doing lookups, but in this case it will not be possible. Hi Donna, I enjoy doing lookups, but in this case it will not be possible. As far as anyone knows there is no 1890 census for any county or any state, just the Veteren's and Widows census. By 1900 only a widow, Sarah Brock, is listed in Rhea County and none of the Children you mention are in her household. I am looking for information from the 1890 Rhea County census concerning the household of my grandfather, William Coleman Brock (b: 2/24/1886) in Rhea County. His parents were James Brock and Sarah Iv(e)y Brock. A brother, John Brock (also born in TN ~ possibly Rhea County), was born 8/28/1887. This census is not yet on-line and I would really appreciate it if someone could do a look up for me on this family. I've run into a MAJOR stumbling block on the birth years/places of James and Sarah; hopefully this would provide some information on that, as well as tell me if they were still in the Rhea County are in 1890. A sister, Alma Mae Brock, was born in 1895 in Campbell County, TN. Thanks so much, Donna (Brock) Strong Hamilton, Ohio
You're out of luck on the 1890 Rhea Census, doesn't exist. Edna Clack

Earline, The only statement in the grant that could infer a bounding property owner is the statement: "....beginning at a Black Oak near a branch that leads by Brecton Proctor's.." I am looking for information on the Elder and Moore families which lived in Meigs County. Robert Elder married Sarah Moore on February 16, 1802 in Jefferson County, TN. Robert died August 6, 1863 and Sarah died September 26, 1840. They are buried in the Upper Goodfield Cemetery in Meigs County. I have Robert's parents as Samuel Elder and Hannah (last name unknown). I have Sarah's parents as James Moore and Hannah Boring (not sure of last name). Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated. Jean K.
