    1. Dye in TN
    2. Jayne Wunsch Dye
    3. Hello List I am new. Just discovered yesterday that Linda Doyle has a DYE ancestor from Rhea Co. TN. She mentioned a cousin Fred S. who is already on this list, and has posted some, possibly all, of this family. I am hoping that new members may be out there who can contribute more information. Linda said there were 250 relatives at a Rhea Co. Reunion two years ago -- it is my fervent hope that all of them got Computers, Internet, and Family Tree Maker for Xmas! If we can link our Dye persons we will both get a lot of cousins in a short time. Below is Linda's Rhea Co. connection with David DYE and Elizabeth BLANTON. ======Thanks in advance for any additional information==== Jayne W. 1. LAND RECORDS
    2. Jean Masoner
    3. I have a page from a book by Betty Broyles that list the land on the South side of TN River in Rhea County for 1821. There are three MASONER'S listed on the page, Isaac, John, and Tavenor Masoner. John is listed as have 160 acres, NW quarter, Section 8, Township 4 (3 S) Range 3 W. Tavenor is listed as having 160 acres, SW quarter, Section 8, Township 4 (3 S) Range 3 W. I am interested in obtaining the land records for john and Tavenor. Does anyone have access to this records that could copy them for me. Thanks. Jean Masoner jmasoner@isc-durant.com Listowner: MASONER-L@rootsweb.com

    1. My Knox County Family - Love
    2. W & J Germann
    3. Dear listers, I am searching for more information on the family of Samuel Love Sr, who died in Knoxville in April 1826, "an old and respected citizen" per the newspaper. His second wife was Mary (Polly) Smith. Who was his first wife? Was she a Perry? Samuel listed 7 sons in his will, all of whom were by his first wife. He and Polly had no children. In his book on the Lyle and Wear families, Oscar Lyle showed a son of John Love and Nancy McSpadden as the son of "Samuel Love and Miss Perry." We know for certain he was son of John and Nancy. Did Lyle make a mistake and list the grandparents by accident? If so, who is "Miss Perry?" Could her first name have been Margaret or Rebeckah? In Samuel's will he left to several granddaughters named Margaret and Rebeckah (although, there were other granddaughters with those names who were not so favored, and a lot of other granddaughters who were not mentioned at all.) Is this a clue that those names had special meanings? (We believe Samuel is son of Joseph Love and Mary Teas so they are not named for his mother.) Samuel's son Isaac Love, born 1782 in TN (Possibly Knox Co?), married Phoeba/Phoebe Connelly/Conley about 1810. Where did they marry, and whose family is she from? I find Isaac in Rhea county in several records until the mid 1820s. In 1830, believe he was in Vermillion County IL, and by 1840 was in (present day) Maries County, MO (then Pulaski County MO). Both died and are buried there. The only reference I find to her family is in a Goodspeed's history on one of her grandchildren which says her "father was a wealthy East Tennessee slaveowner." Not much to go on! There is an Olivia/Olivey Conley who married Robert Rhea in Knox County ca 1809. Some years later Isaac and Phoebe had a granddaughter living with them named Olive. Is this a clue? Are Phoebe and Olivey sisters? I'm hoping for a "millenium miracle" - that someone out there will recognize them and be able to break down this wall for me. Happy new year to all of you -- Judy Germann

    3. Interesting info from Rhea County, TN Census, Marriages, Tax records 1850-1900: Marriages: Mary R Davis to Creed Shadwick Oct 14, 1892, Wm Morgan JP 4-64 Nancy E Davis to William Dye Sep 25, 1855 (same), A Campbell JP 1-#518 Nancy J Shadwick to William Dye/Dyer q.v., which means the date is under the groom's name, but the only marriage listed for William Dye is to Nancy E Davis. Since Nancy was married in 1855 the 1850 census is the only one where she would appear with her parents, and I do not find her there. There is 37 years between the marriage of Nancy and Mary. If these were first marriages in the 16-20 year range for each, the chances are they are not sisters. Do you have any ages or birthdates for Nancy or Mary? 2. Carol, >From ‘Wills, Inventories, Estate Settlements and Guardian Reports 1810-1881’ 31 Mar 1878: The will of Moses C R Thompson mentions nephews James F, Wm C, Moses B, General C, Doctor B, Thos B, and Jos H Thompson, sons of by bro W R S Thompson. In ‘ History of Rhea County’ these sons of William R Seqwine and Martha M (Dudley) Thomson are listed with the same names...except...James T (born 1853) as the first born after the couple married Jan 22, 1852. If this James ‘T’ turns out to be James ‘F’, his father and uncle are two of the 10 children of Mose F and Mary (Martin) Thompson as described on page 392 in ‘History of Rhea County, Tennesee’ compiled by Bettye J Broyles. bill wblanders@capecod.net

    3. I am researching a Francis M. Short who settled in Pulaski/Faulkner Co. Arkansas between 1860 and 1870. He married Nancy ? in about 1869. I have located a Francis M. Short who married Blancha Jann Rhea in Rhea Co. in 1857. Her parents where Aaron Rhea and Blancha Rease. I have found Francis and Blancha on the 1860 Rhea Co. Census living with their one year old son John. Does anyone know what may have happend to the Rhea Co. Francis M. Short. I am working on a theory that Blancha may have died or Francis and her may have divorsed and then he migrated to Arkansas. Any information would be greatly appreciated. 3. There have been family rumors that Francis A. McCabe had a daughter with a woman named Long, and that she was not the Mary Jane Long that he married. The daughter's name is Jennie McCabe, and rumor has it that she married an Alley. A list of tombstones in Wolf Creek Cemetery, done in 1979 by Miss Bessie Walker says: "Jennie McCabe Alley, wife of Jim Alley. Does anyone know anything about this?
