Michael, The person(s) that came up with Augustine and Rachel getting married in Columbia are wrong. There is a marriage record of Augustine and Rachel Nichols Lee in Rockingham Co. NC. They didn't make it to Tennessee until about 1825-27. As for Matthias Welch, he and his family are on tax rolls in White Co. from about 1812-13 or so.
