My ADAMS line has been at a standstill for yrs and I WANT to move it forward!! Following is what I have or believe is connected to my line. I truly will appreciate any input or assistance from those reading this. My line as known is: Calvin b 1828, Celia b 1830, Telitha b 1832 and Levi b 1833. 1838 Bradley CO TN (area that became Polk CO TN) - Record of school matters in the district, number of children. William Adams was listed with 2 children. I believe they were Calvin age 10 and Celia age 8. Most likely Telitha and Levi were not attending school due to their ages (6 and 5). 1840 Polk Co TN census William Adams household: 1 male age 70 - 80 (himself) 1 male age 10 - 15 (Calvin, age 12) 1 male age 5 - 10 (Levi, age 7) 1 female age 40 - 50 (possibly Sarah?) 1 female age 10 - 15 (Celia, age 10) 1 female age 5 - 10 (Telitha, age 8) 1841 - September William Adams died. Riley Horn and George Dalyrimple took his will to the courthouse ( it has been lost and no one knows the contents of the will). 1850 Polk CO TN census Sarah Samples household age 62 ( is it possible she was the woman on the 1840 census, remarried and widowed again?) Calvin Adams, age 22 Celia Adams, age 20 Telitha Adams, age 18 Levi Adams, age 17 no other residents in the household. 1851, Aug 15 Calvin Adams m. Sarah Jane Carver in Monroe Co TN. He served in the Civil War, came home, left to go after something (family lore) and was never heard from again. Sarah Jane lived out her life in Monroe CO TN. Their children were: Amanda m. Thomas R. Bledsoe, Sarah Anne m. Wm H H Branum/Brannon, Washington Levi m. Emma Powell, John Andrew m. Sarah Jane Roburn, Malinda, Mary E., and Nancy Jane. m. James B. 'Dick' Blanton. abt 1851 - Celia Adams m. David Cross. They lived in Polk Co TN then removed to Cherokee Co NC where they were listed in the Hot House twp on the 1870 census. Their known to me children were: Sarah, Nancy, William, Calvin, Levi, Daniel J., Millie, and Polly. abt 1859 - Telitha Adams m. Joshua Franklin Cole. They were on the 1860 & 1870 Polk Co Tn censuses but did not l find them on the1880 census. Their children were: Columbus, William, Eliza A. Missouria 1860 - Levi Adams was a hired hand of Ephriam Prince and living on his property. I next found him on the 1880 Polk CO Tn census in Ducktown with a wife, named Elizabeth age 37 and children: John, James, Sarah, Sarah, Mary E, and Cinthia. To my knowledge I have not found anyone else claiming 'Wm Adams d 1841 Polk CO TN" as their ancestor. I would really appreciate input and clues as to where to look next as I am at a standstill on this line. If there are other Polk CO TN school records from the 1840s then someone should be listed with at least Telitha and Levi as school age children. Bettye
