Does any one knows of a Sarah Annie Gladden born about 1830 in Tennessee? She might have had a sister named Mary. Sarah Annie married a Gaddis. Any names of the Gladden will help. Peggy psueg@bellsouth.net
On the 1900 Benton, Polk Co., TN federal census, William Moore was listed with his wife, Sarah, and 3 children, Willie, Benjamin, and Scholott. William was born 1828 in PA. Sarah was born 1849 in TN. Willie, Benjamin, and Scholott were all born between 1883 and 1888 in TN. I couldn't identify them in the TN censuses after that. William was elder brother to my great grandfather, James B. Moore, both sons of Johannes Conrad and Susannah Nagel Mohr/John C. and Susan Moore. William was previously married to Charlotte Staples in Tazewell Co., IL. They had a family but William and Charlotte separated. She listed herself as a widow, but brother in law, Daniel Moore, of Decatur, Macon Co., IL said William was living in Benton, Polk Co., TN at the same time. William was a Civil War veteran. I have his records. Shirley Maynard MaeMay510@aol.com

Does any one have any information on a Sarah Annie Gladden married to a Lewis Hubbard Hilliard Gaddis. They might have called her Annie, I have found the name both ways. She was born about in the 1830's in Tennessee, but was in Lumpkin Co., and in Gilmer Co;, Ga in the 1880's. Also some names of the Gladdens are in the Cherokee Co., Alabama Heritage Book, I have not found the book yet, in case any one has one. Any help with any names Peggy
Hello group, I received numerous reply's to my posting of 9/18/2000, looking for 1870 census lookup of William Collins and family and I am very grateful. I have several other questions to throw out to the group. One of the replies said that William Collins was living in the 10th District of Polk County and lists the Post Office as Hiwassee. I would like to know the bounds of the 10th district to give me a better idea of the area that the Collins family lived. William was listed as a mine hand. Other than copper mining around Copper Hill, TN, did any other type of mining go on this area, in this time period? Thanks in advance for any help with these questions. Clinton R. Davis

Is there anyone who can do a 1870 Polk Co. census lookup for me? I am looking for William Collins, wife (Permelia) Mary Collins. I think they might have been in or around Ducktown, TN. in 1870. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Clinton R. Davis

Hi All, Both Union and Fannin Cos., GAGenWeb pages have been spruced up and now incorporate their own search engines, and the 'scam disclaimer' verbage. A big Thank You goes to my fellow CCs for helping with the coding we needed to try and stop websites like familydiscovery.com from riping off our on-line researchers. Union Co., GAGenWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaunion Fannin Co., GAGenWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~gafannin Links are still shown separately to all our data so you can go that route if you want to, bypassing the search engine. It is my preference to keep music at my websites, but to hear it you'll need to press the 'play' button. Our new music will keep your foot stompin' while you search and is a must to get the full experience as a visitor. For those of you who prefer 'text only-no music' pages, I have included a link to that additional main page. You'll need to bookmark it separately to return to it. Don't forget to 'reload' so you stay current with all the updates. Both of these sites are best viewed with the underlining of the links turned off in your brower software... If there is anyone out there that has had dealings with familydiscovery.com; please contact Joy Fisher jfisher@ucla.edu. Her original email on this subject is added below. She has been in touch with her local police department. About 10 days ago, to investigate this, I signed up with familydiscovery. To date, I have not received a user id or password to get inside. The registered owners of the web site gave bogus telephone numbers in their registration. One number goes to a recorded message line; the other to a carpet company. Some of the e-mail addys on their web site bounce. Standing on the outside and looking through the window, it appears that several folks' web sites have been prize-mined: http://www.familydiscovery.com/whatsnew.htm The Storey Co., IA and the Washington Co., PA stuff seem to come from USGenWeb sites. Some of the other IA and NC stuff seems to come from non-USGW sites. None of the materials seem to be housed at either rootsweb or usgennet. I would suggest we all add the Java applet to bust out of the shrink-wrapping: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- Hide script from old browsers if (top.location !=self.location) { top.location = self.location } // End hiding script from old browsers --> </SCRIPT> This needs to be inserted between <HTML> and <TITLE> on every web page. If you have text files on your web site, you will need to add a little shrink wrapping of your own: Create a blank web page -- use the tags <PRE> </PRE> --- and paste your text file in between the <PRE> and the </PRE> -- and be sure to add the Java applet. If anyone out there is or has been a member of familydiscovery -- or has been ripped off by them, I would like to hear from you. Permission is granted to forward this message. I want to thank everyone who answered my question about DEC in the Census record. It turns out you were right, DEC does stand for deceased, surprisingly to me. Still looking for where in Tennessee William P Hampton was born Aug 8 1789. William was married to Malinda ( maiden name unknown) born about 1792 in Virginia and they had seven children, John H born 1818 TN. James P born 1827 TN, William Erwin, Lemira, Elizabeth, Matilda, and Mary Adeline. I am pretty sure that at least some of the children besides John and James were born in TN since William and Malinda did not leave Tennessee until 1828 to go to McLean County ILL. Any leads on where in Tennessee they may have been would be a big help. Thanks for you help Jaime JLeeV196@aol.com
