Thanks for the look up, Carol. How I know that Thomas Collins was not listed in Polk County 1870 census. I was hoping that he might have been living near his brother, William. Clinton R. Davis
Could someone please do a 1870 Polk Co... Census look up for me. I am looking for: Thomas W. Collins, abt. 31 , born apx. 1839 in Ga. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a Polk Co. site that has the 1870 Polk Co. census online? Clinton R. Davis Archdale , NC
Below is a partial copy of your answer from this rootsweb site: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/questions.html#7 How do I correct an error in your database? Return to Top Return to HelpDesk Errors found in databases typically cannot be updated or changed, just as you would not expect a census record to be updated if you found an error. On most of our databases we offer you the ability to use our Post-em Notes. Post-em Notes enable you to attach a notation to a database record, giving corrected information. If you find an error in the Social Security Death Index, you should contact your local Social Security Administration (SSA) office. Be sure to bring documentation with you. They will correct the main Death Master File (DMF), and the change will be distributed to those who maintain copies of the file with the next set of updates. They will also give you a verification document of SSA's current records, which you can use as proof of the error. You will want to add a Post-em Note to the file, as it may take a while before we get the update. - ----------------------------- AHamptonResearch@aol.com wrote: > Here is a note for anyone researching the HAMPTON lines of Polk Co. Here is a note for anyone researching the HAMPTON lines of Polk Co. TN. My Grandfather, Acarious Monterville (Monty) HAMPTON is listed incorrectly on the SSDI Interactive Index at Rootsweb. I have tried several times to correct this information and it still has not been changed. His name has been incorrectly spelled as "Ackrious Hampton". His birth date is 2 June 1879. If anyone knows how to go about correcting this information with both Rootsweb and SSDI, please let me know. Thanks, Arlene Hampton AHamptonResearch@aol.com

Happy Holidays to Polk County Researchers! May this season bring you news of that elusive ancestor! ****A small reminder**** Mail list volume tends to increase during the holidays. So, since that time is upon us, and many of us will be traveling, and not checking email regularly, I ask that you temporarily UNSUBSCRIBE if you are unable to read or download your email for any extended length of time(but please re-subscribe when you return). When you've reached your data quota with your individual ISP, your mail bounces to me. I've received many over the last few weeks, and since I, too, will be traveling during the holidays, it increases my mail twofold. To help all of us manage the mail volume during the holidays, mail addresses that bounces more than 2 times to the same address will be unsubscribed from the TNPOLK mail list. To unsubscribe from the TNPOLK mail list, send your unsubscribe request to the following addresses: for regular mail: tnpolk-l-request@rootsweb.com for digest mail: tnpol-d-request@rootsweb.com And, for any other rootsweb.com mail list, just replace "tnpolk" with the name of that particular list. And, if you have any questions or comments, please write to me! Have a wonderfully happy and safe holiday! One of my brick walls is my grandmother's family. My grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth PRITCHARD Womack, born 8/15/1898 and her sister, Mary PRITCHARD Womack, born abt. 1887, were both married to my grandfather, John Pleas WOMACK (born in Polk Co,TN). John & Mary were married in Bradley Co., TN in 1907. Mary died in Hamilton Co, TN in 1923. Her death certificate lists ALBERT PRITCHARD & Rebecca ANDERSON as parents. Sara died in 1963, and her death certificate lists parents as OSCAR PRITCHARD & Rebecca Anderson. According to my Mom's birth certificate, Sarah was born in Bradley Co., TN. I have been unable to find out if Mr. Pritchard's name is Oscar or Albert, as I have been unable to find him & Rebecca in any census records prior to 1910, nor have I found a death record on an Albert or Oscar Pritchard. If any of this info looks familiar to ANYONE, please contact me. Thank You. I am posting this request to several different lists, so if you get it more than once, please hit delete!! Sincerely, Connie Baumann

If anyone has a 1870 or 1880 Polk County Census could you do a look up for George Barley. The name is often transcribed incorrectly. Bailey, Byerly, Barly, etc.. A look for George Preston Barley. He always used his middle initial or name. Thanks Doyle King deking45@aol.com

This was forwarded to me and although I don't usually forward this type of stuff, I thought since the holidays are approaching and many of us will be shopping (alone) in malls, etc., it might be worth a look. Where do people come up with these ideas? I just wanted to pass along that I was approached yesterday afternoon around 3:30PM in the Walmart parking lot at Forest Drive, by 2 males, asking what kind of perfume I was wearing. I didn't stop to answer them, and kept walking toward the store. At the time, I remembered this email. The men continued to stand between parked cars, I guess to wait for someone else to hit on. I stopped a lady going toward them, pointed at them, and told her about how I was sent an e-mail at work about someone walking up to you at the malls or in parking lots, and asking you to SNIFF PERFUME that they are selling at a cheap price! THIS IS NOT PERFUME -- IT IS ETHER! YOU WILL PASS OUT, AND THEY WILL TAKE YOUR WALLET AND ALL OF YOUR VALUABLES (or worse)!!!! This is the original email: This is not a prank email; this is true because I was stopped in the Governors Square parking lot today. A maroon van pulled up to me with two females in it. The female on the passenger side rolled down the window and asked me if I would be interested in "sniffing" some perfume they were selling. I remembered the e-mail that I had received, and said "NO." She asked me a second time, I kept on walking and said "NO" once again, and they pulled away. If it were not for this e-mail, I probably would have sniffed the "perfume." PASS THIS ALONG TO ALL YOUR WOMEN FRIENDS, AND PLEASE BE ALERT, AND AWARE!! (A THOUGHT AFTER READING THE ABOVE: I WOULD MAKE SURE I GOT THE VEHICLE'S LICENSE NUMBER.) --0-1470503465-973673596=:17267-- --part1_25.d277631.273b4fad_boundary-- --------------BCB91E93EBB5E6189E6AE9FC--
