WOODROW WILSON SHARP Oct. 13, 1923-June 16, 2006 Woodrow Wilson Sharp, age 82, of Monticello, Ky., passed away Friday, June 16, 2006 at Golden Years Nursing Home in Monticello, Ky. He was born October 13, 1923 in Pickett County, Tenn., the son of Albert and Minnie Barrier Sharp, who preceded him in death. He married Fannie Coffey Sharp, who preceded him in death. He later married Eva Spradlin Sharp, who survives. He is survived by six children-Diane Messamore of Monticello, Ky., Stanley Sharp of Charlotte, Tenn., Charles Hurt of Kingman, Ind., Stratty Hurt of Whitley City, Ky., Carolyn Slagle and Jerry Hurt both of Monticello, Ky.; five step children-Debra King of Strunk, Ky., Rick Gregory, Betsy Prince, Michelle Todd, and Laura Stevens all of Monticello, Ky.; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two children-David Hurt and Julie Davis; eight siblings-Effie Pryor, Flonnie Pryor, Frona Lowe, Grace Sharp, Eva Pryor, Virgil, Sterlie, and Allen Sharp. He served his country with honor in the army during WWII and Korea. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Monday, June 19, 2006 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Dewey Burks and Bro. David Frost officiating. Burial was in Sharp Cemetery in Pickett County, Tenn., with Monticello Chapter of the DAV presenting the honors.
